Power feed for bypass relay?

I have been trying to work out where to take a feed from to wire in a bypass relay for my towbar but havent had much success so far

I've searched for this and have found some threads but they seem to no longer have the links in for the pictures that I need to work out what is going on, I have take the glovebox out and found the gromet behing the panel at the base of the windscreen but I have no idea how i am supposed to get at the point where the gromet comes into the cabin? Does anyone have any pics of this or any advice on how I can get a permanent live feed for the relay?

Now you've got me worried. I was thinking about the same thing before buying a bar. I had thought I could simply take it from the 12v socket in the boot ( I have an estate) with an in-line fuse instead of having to route a wire to the front of the car.
Am I missing something obvious as to why this wouldn't work?

Stu, thanks for the link, i have had a read of those instructions but unfortunately as they are for the 'proper' Skoda wiring kit it only refers to "find the spare 12v spade in the fusebox" for the none-Skoda wiring, think I need to dig out my voltmeter and go spade hunting!

GreenMachine, I only have the hatch so no power outlet in the boot, I was wondering if the easiest place to patch into was the feed for the 12V socket, nice and easy to find and with separate inline fuse should be ok I would think (unless someone wants to warn me against it!?)

You should ideally go back to a source supply so as to be sure you have enough current supply, I'm assuming you want to charge batteries and power fridges etc - I don't think the ciggy lighter can take it.

As a rule you shouldn't connect a larger CSA (Cross Sectional Area or Diameter) cable to a smaller one.

In my case I am only using single electrics so no fridges or anything like that will be coming from this feed, it's just to provide enough current for the trailer lights. Ideally I would like to run the feed straight from the battery distribution board under the bonet but am yet to find a way into the cabin.

Will spend some time at the wekeend with the multimeter on the fusebox and see what spare feeds I can find.

Still wouldn't want to run anything from the light socket to the towbar.

Certainly if you need a feed for a caravan fridge and battery charger you need a good feed with the correct grade of cable being used.

Hence my original question to try and find out how to take a feed through the bulkhead directly from the battery, there was a guide and some pics on here from a couple of years ago but unfortunately the pics are no longer there so I can tell exactly how to get the cable through

I did have a copy of the towbar install instructions but I can't seem to find them now. You could try asking a dealer if they have a spare set.

Dunno where mine takes the power from. It was fitted by the professionals before collection. Can have a poke about if its any use to you. Though mine is twin sockets rather than a thirteen pin arrangement.

Marcus and Stu, thanks for your guidance on this, Marcus, don't worry about having to dig around to see how your install was done just yet, I should have some more time available this weekend so will try a few things out to see where I can take the feed from, a good start was that I found my multimeter again (moved house last year and still finding things that have been trying to hide!)
