Could be an interesting read, plus VXR8 versus Lotus Carlton should be good too.

There was a big feature in Total Vauxhall the other mont with 6 or 7 LC's and the new VXR8 - was an interesting read too IMO

Think one of the LCs used in that is the one in this Article too

IIRC the Lotus was a twin turbo 3.6. I reckon it would give a VXR8 a good run.

The TV Mag review said they were

The only reason they compares them was because the VXR8 is like the New Gen Lotus Carlton - Highly powerful 4-door Saloon, with a crappy badge

Did anyone see 5th Gear when for the shoot out they had a VXR8 against the Lotus Carlton? Sadly the VXR8 won but that may have been down to Smutler Henderson's driving!

I'd put it on the Lotus Carton to just pip it, with a decent driver. They are astonishingly quick!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the upside down, triangulated exhaust tail pipe on the Corsa VXR looks completely rubbish?

Got the mag yesterday. No great revelations in the group test tbh, all standard stuff.

The hack twittered on about the golf had more feel and a bteter all round drive etc.

IMHO the golf looks like a big piece of cheese and costs 3k more. The Cupra looked about as practical as chainsaw for key hole surgery

The VRS is far nicer, just a shame about the mid-life-crisis yellow colour lol!

I read the review, and I thought the reasons for buying each were ok:

Cupra because it has more power
Gti because it apparently has a higher quality feel and is a bit more composed
VRS because you can have more sideways fun and is as quick on the twisties as the cupra.

There you go, I've just saved everybody £4 (or you can just g and read it in tesco or smiths and stillsave the cash)

Cheers both.

Now someone do the decent think and scan it in!!!

And the Golf is exactly the same in terms of build quality and materials as the Octy, imho, although I think the Octy has a nicer styled dash.

I disagree regarding interior build quality - mine has more rattles then either my TT or Golf ever had.

Mines an 06 with getting on for 30k, not a squeak or rattle anywhere

Wonder whether the new Golf rattles at all

Wink Re: Quick Heads up: Octy II vRS mag review

Anyone notice how little there is in performance between the Vrs and GTi, and the GTi had 38,000 mile under its belt, truly run-in, and the Vrs only 1,483 not at all run-in.

What's more from 0 to 100mph the Vrs is quicker and gets even quicker there up, and as for better quality fittings and finish, what a load of ****, any car tester always has to say that to justify the £3,000 price premium.

Vrs Vrs Vrs

0-60 7.1 Sec 0-100 18.3 Sec 0-120 31.5 Sec

GTi GTi GTi

0-60 6.8 Sec 0-100 19.0 Sec 0-120 36.2 Sec
