| Just had the Octy Vrs II remapped by Jayson at Chipped UK - Where performance counts and dreams come true and all i can say is 'what an unbelievable difference' This is the best money i have spent in a long time and the car just gets better One thing i will say is, ok, my car has only covered 1500 miles but the standard reading was only 183bhp! Nothing really to be concerned about as it would really only come on strong at about 5k miles but with no adaptive learning very limited.... ![]() If anybody is in the market for a remap for their Octy get in touch with Jayson, he loves this car ![]()

I read this a lot on here and I really believe it to be scare mongering.... And there is no such thing as 'ain't going to have any warranty'. Fair enough if they can determine any modification has resulted in detrimental effect to your car against which you claim then they can refuse to resolve it under warranty however simply having a remap will not void your warranty - that is total 5h1te. A friend of mine recently had is ARB bushes replaced under warranty all after he had had it remapped it from 150bhp to 220bhp, fitted a full koni suspension kit and Audi TT brakes. Blatently obvious that the increase in power had caused the fault but the dealer still fixed it under warranty. Bottom line is the dealers couldn't give a monkeys as they still get the money back for warranty claims....

| If you don't think a remap will void your warranty. Ring Skoda UK now, and tell them you've just got your new Octavia remapped, and give them your registration plate too. Let me know your feedback. |

It isn't up to Skoda UK - a warranty it a legally binding oblication and of course like any legally binding obligation there are conditions both parties have to adhere to for it to hold. It is up to them to prove that the modification you have made to your car has been the cause or influencing factor leading to the fault for which you are making the warranty claim. If they can do that then they can refuse to fix it under warranty. However if the fault has nothing whatsoever to doing with the modification then they are still obligated to fix it under warranty. Therefore there is no such thing as voiding your entire warranty - it is not as black and white as that.

| A remap can be blamed for tons of faults ie suspension/drive train, gearbox/clutch, engine, cooling system, turbo, brakes and probably a lot more without stretching the imagination. Theres not much left after that lot except body & upholstery Mod your car & you takes your chances, just be standing by with cheque book ready if it all goes pear shaped. |

| Indeed I've spent a fairly large sum of cash on repairs recently, and there is a fair bit more to come. That said I knew it could happen, and didn't expect a warranty claim to be made/given. On the other hand I did expect reasonable quality of servicing and trouble shooting. Unfortunately one dealer overcharged me for the work and when questioned about this still insisted it was correct (it was 100 quid over), whilst another was unable to find a faulty thermostat (!!) on an overheating car. This in turn has probably lead to further problems in the engine (like the head gasket at the very least). Also not noticing brake pads that are virtually on the metal (who cares if the brake discs/pads are the 312mm, they are still brakes!) was a bit of an unforgiveable flaw imho. These days I go to a proper specialist instead. Cheaper, VAG trained, genuine parts or uprated parts used, and frankly better most of the time. I may one day use the Swindon Skoda branch as Fish Brothers have been very good with my father in law's Toyota, plus SWMBOs Kia and actually appeared to do a good job.

| Getting back to the remap, since the dyno chart has been removed. How much did you get and what did it cost?

| As this post has become somewhat of a discussion about warranty issues, it seems to have lost it's overall appeal in relation to the original subject....
