Default Removing the centre console to retro-fit an audio cable

I have a new head unit which I've installed in my Octavia vRS mark II.

I'd like to run a USB cable from the head unit down under the ashtray, past the gear stick, cup holders and centre console and up into the jumbo box. The 2007 Octavia models already have something similar to connect mp3 player audio to the Stream car radio via a 3.5mm socket. In essence I'd like to 'retro-fit' this connection but with my own cable.

Has anybody tried to remove their centre console and the associated panels and sections and if so, what's the best way to do this?

What head unit have you installed out of interest?

Good luck on not getting any new rattles when you put it all back together lol

Thanks. This is the head unit,

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. - iDA-X001

Here is another thread I started to help me fit it,

I'll get some better pictures of it all once I've completed the installation.

Strange, but I often find supportive Freedom members often get pretty good solutions to their problems.

In the end I've decided not to bother feeding the cable all the way into the jumbo box. It's too much hassle for what it's worth so I've just fed it into the back of the ashtray which I don't use any way. It works brilliantly.
