Default Silver on VRS gearstick

I just noticed today that the silver on the top of my Mk2 VRS (56 reg) gearstick appears to be wearing through. Instead of being solid silver it has a black mottled speck appearance too it. Is anyone else having a similar problem? and should it be covered by the warranty?

Yeah same here! I'm not sure that it "wearing through" though, I think it could be in-grained grime. Going to have a propper go at cleaning it this weekend! Then we will see whats what!!

Had the chrome on my previous elegance gearstick wear like this. It got replaced under warranty just before it expired. I don't think liked cement and sweat very much!

On my old car that had a similar gear knob it was starting to go but I put it down to my wedding ring scraping on it......... as its titanium I guess it would be a little harder than the plastic pf the gear knob.... I try to take more care now.
