StarChip to a Octy vRS

Hey all!

I've still not got my octy vRS yet, but in fits of schoolboy excitement and anticipation, wonder if anyone has any good experience in the value of getting the car chipped?

Not to say I'm unhappy with all things standard, but I was browsing on tinternet and found myself on morego - Performance Car Tuning Specialists - Air Filters, Conversions, Dash Kits, Exhausts, StarChip, Valves who do a starchip for £400 that boosts hp by 45 and Nm by 70.

If someone has had this done, I'd be interested in how the chassis and drive handles this extra umf and if any problems have been had at servicing at main dealerships?

I used morego to 'chip' my 1.4mpi Fabia with good result and they do advertise great results with the 2.0 TFSI engine; they are also one of the longer established companies in this field.

However, presuming your pride and joy of a vRS will be NEW think of the warranty situation. If you have a (hopefully unlikely) major engine fault Skoda may start to duck their warranty cover if it has been chipped/remapped. Will morego cover this?

You might like to look at Superchips - Rediscover the joy of the open road They are also a longer established firm but most importantly offer a full warranty, not only on their chip, but also to back up on the Manufacture's if they decline. Check out the power/torque graphs as well.

thanks for the comments bahnstormer! this is what I guess I'm fishing for. maybe somebody has had an experience of any dealer warranty issues.

the superchips site does look good and with the extra guarantee and warranty, I'd certainly pay the extra £100 for it.

they also advertise that you can take it all out in about a minute or two. I wonder how realistic this is?

Sorry; don't know about Revo warranty.

Interestingly; Superchips have taken the Octavia vRS TDI, and all other VAG TDI PD 170 engines OFF thier availability in the last few days. The were quoting 200+ BHP and 300lb ft - but now seems NOT to be available.
