| many thanks for your quick reply and sorry for wasting your time but new to site and thought i was the only one that would be considering this change of HU. you know the usual how silly ha ha anyway again many thanks. Great to know thats its a skoda part so finish should be as it was intended. so basically its just a simple procedure removing stream unit , plugging in new lead, then slotting in adaptor and finally fitting stereo |

| Dont worry about wasting the time. There are a few pics of the conversion somewhere on here. Quite a few non gen headunits in the Octavia 2 now. With the Skoda kit it should be plug and play. btw there is a flash update for the stream to sort cutting out etc.

| My very simple Octy 2 boot install consisting of an Alpine amp and 10" Kenwood sub.... Image049.jpg The amp is nicely out of the way and pivots down fine when putting the seat flat. The sub box is very small and takes up hardly any space. Last edited by wega3k; 20-05-2006 at 18:38. |

| My Kenwood double DIN ICE / satnav install..... DSCN0881.JPG You'll have to excuse the rubbish picture. All looks a bit scruffy with my finger prints . Looks a lot nicer in the flesh.Last edited by wega3k; 20-05-2006 at 18:40. |

| The live power cable comes through a small hole drilled and the siliconed in the bulkhead. There is an existing gromet you can come through if you can find it though. The cable then drops down behind the glove box and then runs under the plastic trim on the left hand side of the car and then out at the left hand side of the passenger seat squab. I guess it's about as much of a hassle as any any modern car. Somebody else did this install for me but honestly, if I could go back, I'd do it myself. Last edited by wega3k; 20-05-2006 at 19:00. |

| The essential feature for me is bluetooth hands free , and I don't think that anyone makes a double-din bluetooth HU.

| You want the brand new Kenwood DDX-6029. Looks gorgeous, way nicer design than mine, .45" bigger screen AND bluetooth! Only £550 too.... http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/sho.../AUDIO-VISUAL/ Or £1050 with the navigation unit.... http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/nvdx67ga.asp I think if I was in the market for a setup for my Octy 2 now, that's what I'd go for. I would however consider picking up one of the old Kenwood DV-3200 sat nav units (like I've got) as I think it's the best navi system ever made. I think the software is nicer than Alpine's and Pioneer's, nicer than the new (Garmin based) Kenwood and certainly nicer than any car manufacturer's own system. |
