| I recently posted on this thread to canvass opinion on the cost to change from Superb Elegance to an Octavia VRS. Here..... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octav...-change/69922/ I have now spoken to the dealer and the cost to change would be £2k- this is for a VRS which is one year old (same age as the Superb). I like the Superb but I am finding it a bit dull and I don't do enough miles to really need a TDi (we have a Fadia VRS in the family as well). So Pro's & Cons for the change Pros VRS is more exciting to drive Looks better Cons Pocket will be 2K lighter (insurance is similar so no issue there) MPG worse (approx 10mpg) - not too much of a worry I will not have all the toys (sat nav, Xenons, leather, etc etc) So....I'm not surewhat to do. I know only I can decide but any thoughts? PS have considered a Golf GTi, waiting for the Leon Cupra or a Subaru WRX Wagon (had a saloon version before) |

| Change, you know it makes sense. You can add the MF2 Satnav later if you want, quite a few on here have for around £350. vRS wins hands down, but that 'type' of car has always appealed to me ![]()

| Personally I think if you were considering a GTi or a VRs I'd get the GTi. I got the VRs because I needed the bigger car. I would have preferred the GTi and the fact that the VRs was cheaper was a total bonus. Then I suppose, if I was thinking of the GTi and spending a few more grand wasn't a problem I'd get an R32.

| The Golf appealed due to the residuals but I would prefer the size of the Octavia (and its cheaper which helps). Also considered an Audi A3 (had a 2.0Tdi before it got stolen!) Struggling to make my mind up as i have only had the Superb for circa 2 months....just know its not for me. |

Two months is no time at all - what prompted the change of heart on the Superb? Wouldn't be my cup of tea but you can't knock them - they're just a long wheel base passat.

| I needed to buy a car quickly when my last one was stolen (break in at my house during the night) and I wanted something discrete so the Superb fits the bill. In hindite it was the wrong decision but hey ho. I actually don't mind the car - it does its job well, but I want something more exciting. |

| I've test driven golf gti vs oct vrs back to back on two occassions this year. My experience is that the golf is a fair bit gruntier for some reason and has much more direct steering, its a class act compared to any other golf bar the R32, the skoda is a smidgen behind on the fun stakes for me. Unfortunately the golf gti's heavily bolstered seats hurt like hell with my ample girth in them, wheras the skoda was armchair comfy. Try them both! |

Performance-wise there is very little in it. I'd agree re the more direct steering - the GTi is more nimble.

| a quick update on this... I test drove the VRS yesterday and decided to change. Liked the car as I thought I would having driven a 2.0tdi before. The car I am getting is 1yr old, black with 18" wheels, dual climate and sat nav. Will be another week before I get it. Our driveway will now have a Fabia VRs and Octavia VRs on it! |

| I too, am about to make this change. The only thing preventing my order is the absence of heated front seats on the vRS (see my other thread for that topic). I don't this will stop me ordering the car, but I'm going to wait until I know for sure whether I can get them. My Superb has been brilliant, and the change is only being prompted by the fact that the lease company want it back. I have found it to be a bit boring behind the wheel, but for my daily commute (150 mile round trip), it's been perfect. I'm switching to the vRS as I now get to work from home 3 days a week, so motorway ability is not such an important consideration. I'll also be glad to get back into a car that offers some driver enjoyment (previous to the Superb, I had an Evo 6 RSX). I don't think you'll regret making the switch. Bagpuss. |

| Thanks Guys, Changed the insurance over this morning from the Superb and it has gone up £30! (now paying £300 which is great considering I had a car stolen in Novemeber). I will miss some of the toys on the Superb (the electric memory seats are good when a couple of you drive the car, the auto dipping mirror woks well & Xenons are pretty good) Re: heated seats.....I'm not fussed about them unless its on leather. |

I would love to upgrade to the Octavia Vrs and I am considering it but the Golf Gti would fit on the drive and this comes with DSG but at a price. Might have to hold on for the new Fabia Vrs hopefully with a dsg gearbox Tony | |

| I loved the Golf GTi when I test drove it. Fantastic handling and the DSG box is a great match for the engine (had the DSG in my previous AUDI). Didn't think there was anything it performance wise vs the Octavia though the handling was noticably better. |

| Tried GTI before choosing VRS. Nice car in lots of ways but no quicker and felt less secure than VRS, especially when going over 'crests' at pace when it was decidely unsettled. |
