| Hi guys , got myself a brand new red ambiente couple of weeks ago . the ambiente came with 205/60/15 alloys with OE Dunlop Sport tyres . I got them changed to 205/55/16 Michelin Energy MXV8 with sputnik 16 alloys . Now after driving the car more than 250 miles i am very unhappy with the excessive road noise , poor ride comfort ,extremely poor grip of Michelin tyres . The OE Dunlops were waaay better in all the above three departments . Please suggest me guys what tyres i should go for ? I am looking for quiet tyres with good grip and comfort , not much of a boy racer so the performance is not the priority . thanks . |

Are you sure the tyre pressures are correct? The symptoms you have suggest they are too high. | |

| My Dunlop Sport OE tires have always been noisy and other report the same problem with this tire. Tire wear also seems to be high all round. The Skoda recommended tire pressures do seem to be high for a vehicle running with only two passengers. This of course can be a reason for high tire noise and rapid wear. One of my lads borrowed my car and told me he had checked the tires at a super market gas station. When I eventually checked the pressures all four were running at 24 PSI, so never trust gas station gauges or check the pressures on hot running tires. |

| I recently replaced the original Bridgestone E30s with Bridgestone E300s on my 1.9tdi dsg elegance. I find that the handling, noise etc are the same. Very quiet on good tarmac a bit noisy on motorways. The handling is very good although i must admit i don,t floor it very often. Original tyres were replaced at 19000 (rear, A camber problem ) and 21850 (front) Hope this helps. ![]() |

| I have Turanza e30 205/55 R16 on my Octy and I am very happy (they got also good reviews in internet). On Fabia I had Potenza RE720, very good on wet, but noisy overall. Fabia came with Dunlop Sport 2000, very nice tyres. I noticed something on Fabia but I am not sure it is really true: is it possible that also the alloys make different air-noise? I had steel then I bought alloy and immediately I got a whiiniing noise... strange...

| On my previous MKI Octy I had Bridgestone Touraza's absolutely hated them. Swapped the fronts eventually for a pair of Goodyear Eagle F1's Symetrical, and they were a different league. The new Asymetric Eagles are supposed to be even better. Car was on 205/55/R16 as standard. |

| Hi It begs a question, what were the tyres fitted as new from factory ??our company 2006 Octy estate 1.9, has changed to Nokian winter, they seem fine so far. On the other hand the New 1.9 estate which we have only seen 10min out of the customs last weekend, has again summer tyres fitted, and again I forgot to look what they were. We have now been offered ( part of the deal) Continental winters tyres, what are they like ?? and what are the standard tyres fitted from factory usually ? |

| On our Octy 140 bhp Elegance we have Bridgestone from new and now at 22000+ miles they are wearing fast.As for noise, yes they are noisy but when readin about all tyres for our Skoda, Bridgestone Touraza came over favourably .Another thing i read was that Skoda chose the Bridgestones for allround performance, of course i don't know whether this is so. |

| I have run both Pilot Primacy and Pilot Exalto 2 on a Fabia (195/45 16) and currently have Exalto 2s on my Octavia. To compare them, I found that the Exalto 2s gripped better, were sharper for handling, more supple for ride comfort and quieter, although the Primacys may well have given more mileage (but not by much looking at the wear rate I had). You ask about Pilot Preceda 2. I have not heard of these in UK, perhaps they are the Asian name for Pilot Sport, which are not available in the 205/55 16 you want! IMHO go for the Exaltos.
