| got down to mansfield to drive the octavia today. very nice looking machine it is too. took it for a drive and got about 100 yards and a cloud of white smoke erupted out the back! guess the turbo went bye bye. also found the trip computer didnt work either. both faults the stealer said would be fixed as the car hadn`t been into the workshop yet. it had only had a valet for advertising. is the turbo failure common on a car with 44k on it? also forgot to ask if it had the flywheel checked/replaced. the dealer is ringing me tommorow with what the engine prob is. another salesman took it out and said it was boosting intermittently. didn`t boost at all for me.

| Sounds to me like you're lucky . . . that could easily have happened 4 months down the line when it was yours if you bought it then you'd have had to foot the bill.

| Maybe a hose had popped off? Either way, good it happened now so they can fix it once and for all before/if you buy it.

| Unlucky I would say.... If you do buy it, at lease you will have a new turbo ![]() More likely to have a turbo go on a Fabia TBH ![]()

| looks like a no-go on this deal anyway as their valuation of my ibiza is vastly different to what i owe on it at the moment. Offered me 7k for my car when parkers quoted 8k. looks like i`m keeping the ibiza for a while yet unless they can get to 8k or take some money off the octavia. chances of selling my car at this time of year are probably not good either. oh well it was a nice idea.

| If it's a 140TDi then they do seem to suffer the odd turbo problem. Remember that Parkers is only a guide.

yeah, the turbo going doesn`t bother me too much as it`ll be repaired and fully warranted its just that the two prices are going to be too far apart as the dealership won`t take my car and said they would have to get another dealer to take it off them straight away which seems to me to be why they are offering a low price and the fact its a petrol FR not a diesel one seems to be an issue too. doesn`t seem to affect the prices of ibiza`s on autotrader tho. they would seem to be able to make 2k-3k on my car if they got it for 7k off me..... ![]()

| A nissan salesman told us something like that when we offered our Micra dCi SX back to them. He said "No one wants the diesel models, especially the top of the range ones, people are opting for the base model petrol autos". He then went on to offer us £2,500 for it! ![]() We sold it privately for £4,500 the following week............. ![]()
