Angry Vibrations, Creaks and Rants!

Looks like my Octavia will be back at the dealer shortly. From new it has suffered from a vibration which shows itself on less than perfect road surfaces. It's been rather hard to pin down but I think it may be the cover of the high level brake light in the rear window. My Audience stereo has also been misbehaving; refusing to switch on at all on numerous occasions additionally the front left door woofer has a serious problems. The filter for the washer fluid filler is missing as well

Even more worryingly, in the past week the car has begun to creak over the slightest bumps or imperfections in the road. So much for high build quality! It feels like my lovely new car is a worn taxi

The real test of the dealer begins now.

Funny you mention creaks and groans, I know I have sports suspension but at the weekend I found a road that was very less than perfect and doing about 10/15 mph my dvrs door was very noisy and possibly the seat belt height adjuster was noisy too. I had found a little piece of packing/felt sticking out of the gap of the seat belt height adjuster so pulled it out before I noticed these noises. They might be related to your problems but as you say you expect a bit better quality.
Noise, road noise, some roads are far too noisy.
No more rants at the moment.

Well I've spoken to the dealer, the car is booked in for next Thursday. I'll be away the week after that so I may leave the car with the dealer. I've also drafted the pre-requisite letter informing the dealer that I do not consider the car to be of "Satisfactory Quality" under the terms of the Sale of Goods Act.

Been there, dealer took the high-tech repair option of using superglue on the creaky plastics that come from the back, up high. Also, dash is giving occasional snaps of noise.

Has me thinking about the new Passat!

I wish they knew what they were doing! Superglue

The dash snaps, I'm happy to live with, cooling/heating expansion contraction, most cars built to tight tolerances will have some noises like this - but the other things

If the new Passat has had as much corporate 'influence' as the new Golf, interior quality may have slipped compared to the existing model.

Mine had a loud creak from the back on uneven surfaces, which was especially noticeable at low speeds. I did book it in to the dealer, but had to cancel due to a work commitment. Interestingly though, with a few more miles under its belt the creak has gone!

I've just come back from a week away (and with the car back at the dealer). They managed to fix (I think) one vibration, but have introduced another. The creaking is still abundant it is getting rather silly now; the dealer is trying to convince me it is normal, but frankly any new car that creaks on slightly rough road surfaces isn't acceptable!

I found that the best thing to stop these horrible plasticy creaks is a little dose of silicone aerosol spray. The drivers door in my new octy estate creaked like crazy so I located the area and sprayed a little into the joint. "Voila".
My wifes Fabia creakes and groans especially when it is really cold. She is oblivious to it and it drives me crazy!!!!
If my dealer has to resort to super glue my car keys will be through his letter box with a rejection letter Instantly!!!

The car doors are now rattling like crazy and it's back at the dealer again today Apparently the catches are loose, they have tightened these once before but they have gone back to the way they were pretty fast. Add to this, bits of trim coming away from the C-Pillar and it all makes for a pretty rotten first experience of Skoda ownership. I know they can't all be like this;the Fabia courtesy car is perfect and noise free!

This doesn't make good reading for a new owner, although I'm sure the people who have no issues aren't saying anything!

My Octy is nearly a year old with 16.5K on the clock. Again, as you say, creaks from dash, tizz from CHMSL (Centre High Mounted Stop Lamp). The doors make a metallic noise when the trim is tapped on the top near the security LED. Booked in for next Wednesday for its first service and (hopefully) cure these niggly problems without resorting to superglue!! By the way, Is 1st service free or chargeable?

Will be free for me as it was part of the negotiated deal when I bought it, AFAIK it is usually chargeable.

Couldn't agree more. Think many problems that are found in cars are due to personal driving habits, roads etc that were not fully understood by the engineers when developing the car.

I know I'll get a response on this and I'm not saying that bad build doesn't happen (it does) but there are so many variables that cannot be covered in validation testing - the public do some very very strange things.....

I have still got the creaks, my offside rear window clucks when opening/closing, the sunglass holder creaks when opening, the centre top dash compartment lid has the chrome effect flacking off, so I suppose I should call the dealer now, enough to justify the journey. by the way I still love the drive and car.

The chrome trim on my dash compartment lid is also peeling off, it now looks really nasty. My front near side door has a ticking noise which drives me nuts and the pull handle on the drivers door has come off in my hand twice Not looking good.

My Elegance occasionally creaks in the front transmission tunnel area on a cold morning. Once the car has warmed up no problems at all.

I can live with this.

Yes, my door window "rattle" is much better, and disappears when car is a bit warmer.
I think these cars settle in quite a bit over the first few thousand miles. I've had nothing peel off, break or otherwise dismantle itself so far!

I picked up the car from the dealer this evening; "all done sir" was the greeting. Much to my dismay the creaks from the seals and rattling from the locks are ever present

Not too bad here but i've only had the car a week. The driver's window rubber is very noisy when I raise the window but it's fading now. There are 2 other rattles but 1 is my radar detector rattling against the rear view mirror and the other is from the baby seat in the back so no real complaints.
