| It's a totally different car. A vast impovement all round, better brakes/engine/gearbox/suspension etc.

| I find that my Mark 1 does lack grip that my old Fast Ford cars used to have, does the Mark 2 hang on any better? Mike |

| Much better, less wheel spin but more torque steer

| Why not take one for a spin Mike? Even if you're not buying the dealer won't know that! A simple, "not as good as others I've tested/I thought, thanks anyway" should do. Best done at a dealer other than your usual if only testing rather than looking to buy ![]() |

Didn't notice the turbo at all on the 2.0 TFSI, so stuck with the toys I got on the Elegance. In fact it seemed quite flat to me, and the demo car had a major flat spot which the tested FSI, and my FSI, don't seem to suffer from. Just that car, or trait of the TFSI? | |

| It is just the way the power/torque is delivered - more linear.

| I went from a MkI vRS to a MkII vRS just over a year ago and it beats the old model in nearly every department. Performance, refinement, handling, economy and equipment are in a different league over the MkI but it aint no rally car so if your looking for a 'raw' type of car then the MkII vRS isn't for you. On a personal note, I love it! ![]() |

| Kinda miss the boost effect of the mk1's 1.8T. Still the 2.0 seems more grunty, throaty, and quicker on the off to me. Just a shame they didn't release the 1.8TFSI earlier than they are, else I would have snapped it up ![]() |

| Like gadgetman I miss the boost of the mk1. As I've said elsewhere the mk2 is better all round but I think I preferred the mk1 probably because of the lack of "raw" feel, as per makefish's comment. Mind you ignore what i say i'm the only biker on the planet who seemingly doesn't like Honda CBR600s - again not raw enough fer me. |

| My Mk2 is great but I still miss my Mk1, both great but different cars. Mk2 probably isn't worth the extra £7k I had to find though |

| You couldn't have a TDI version of the Mk I. That tsunami of torque accompanied by a growl like a grizzly bear on heat ... say no more. TDI vRS is cool. ![]() |

| And another thing......I was parked next to a black magic mk1 this week and IMHO i prefer the looks of the mk1 to the mk2. Someone said they grow on you but i've had mine for nearly 3 months and i'm still not convinced |
