| I would have thought that the rear end would be too light compared to the front after this.

| Once you start to corner, the front and rear tyres start to bite into the carriageway to provide grip, if the fronts are providing more grip than the rears on a sweeping bend then the rears will start twitching looking for more grip, until the car is well out of shape and you are all over the road. IMHO not a good plan.!! but then again I am a boring 1.9td 4x4 driver nowadays!

| All the above, and a car that will behave bad when braking sharply, if the suspension happens to bottom out.

| Firstly thanks for your replys, most illuminating. Ok then fine it was a wild idea i know but i'm currently investigating ways to reduce the understeer on my tdi estate which at time can be a little excessive. ...and before anybody says it, no, i do not want to just drive slower ![]() |

| Keep the tank topped up. That's 40-50 kgs (what was petrol's density again?) useful ballast.

| when your front tyres are approaching the legal limit, stick them on the back then when the car under steers bit more lock, hit the brakes, let straight off, nice bit of lift of over steer which is nice and controllable with the throttle. only down side is, if you ever come round a corner and find something coming the other way in the middle of the road, you go to hit the brakes hard and unless your ready for it, the **** end will have a tendency to step out
