| Following on from "Real World Economy" thread (here http://briskoda.net/forums/octavia-i...nomy/104459/2/) What's the furthest estimated range anyone's Octavia has indicated (or for that matter the shortest) Filling up last week it gave me an estimated range of 640 miles!! (I will try and get a photo next fill-up, but thatmay be some time)

| It can make all sorts of predictions - which all change depending on what you drive like in the duration of the tank! Isnt the guesstimate based on the last tank/mpg figure? Lee

| It doesn't just change with the tankful, it varies enormously during the course of a single journey. I'll often start out on a long trip with it showing, say, 18.7 mpg because the last day or two I've been just on short local trips. By the time I get out on the main road and settle down to 70 mph [or something!] the computer is showing 31 mpg. After less than an hour on the motorway it can be showing over 40 mpg. I think you can only get a true estimate by calculating the fill-up volumes of several tanks and noting the car's mileages at those points. |

| Over the last 1500 of mainly motorway driving doing 100 mile (200 mile return) journies, I have managed a total average (counter 2) of 60.8MPG. After brimming the tank, had a range of 755 miles, but when the low fuel warning came on a few days later I had only driven 550 miles yet still had a counter 2 average of 60.5MPG. Average speed showed 48MPH but when on the motorway I do 65-70MPH as indicted by speedo (TOM TOM sat nav shows 62-67MPH). Driving a 2.0TDI Octvia Elegance Hatchback with DSG in D mode fully loaded in the boot. |

| Thanks for your replies, but none of you not state the range! Although the mpg that the computer uses to estimate range is variable (it averages the last how many miles). The biggest difference in actual value will be at fill up, simply because you have gone from a few litres to 55 litres (assumming you go from warning light to brimmed).

| iirc I have never really gotten more than 460 ish miles to a tank full in the slug, the MFA has never shown me more than 520 miles possible range either. I just fill it with whatever sludge is the cheapest and put a couple of shot's of millers into it each fill up Going to have a bash at driving it this weekend as well, almost looking forward to it. |

| Well thanks for that! I was so surprised, that I actually took a picture of the display on my mobile phone, to 'prove' it, so to speak. However, pride cometh before a fall, and some nasty little pecksniff stole my nice new Sony phone from my table at a restaurant last week! No doubt he'll (or she'll) get £20 odd quid for it. It was worth over £200....... Pah! ![]() |

| 670 miles shown at last fill-up I find it weird that if you do a few days 'town driving' and then a long trip you can often leave home for the long trip and when you return you've got more range left than when you started the journey....... Have I just discovered free travel or something.....he he |

| The highest estimate I have seen, just after filling up is 675 Miles, this translates in the real world to a range of about 530 miles before the refuel warning, and another 30 or so miles before I actually fill up with about 50 miles range showing on the computer.

| When I went easy on the last tankful I did 530 miles before the needle hit the red, so if i stretched it probably 600 mile range. But I have a lot of short cold journeys and hilly drives around where I live so it's not the best for economy. Still pretty good though. ![]() I've had the trip computer show 655 miles range after a fill up.

| ![]() First trip to a petrol station in my new (Oct 2006) Octy Elegance 2.0 TDi. I suppose I can't call them petrol stations anymore. The car came with a full tank of Diesel, and in the 12 days I've owned it I managed 547 miles out of the tank. Mainly commuting to work on the M3, but there was some new car silliness in SW London where I live. First time I've filled it and £57 later I'm good for 600 miles. Trip computer says 50mpg, and the maths agree! Considering my old Audi A6 (1.8T - 150BHP) cost £60 to fill, and I'd be doing well to see over 400 miles from that, I'm rather pleased. Granted my 600 mile range is not as good as some of the 1.9TDi numbers being posted, but it's miles better than my old Audi and I think I can live with that! |

| I once managed to extract 535 miles out of a tank in an Audi A8 4.2 Quattro. Thats like 30mpg or so! Not bad for a big V8 petrol!

| Typically have 485 to 520 miles 'range' immediately after a fill-up; but that is often after some congested urban driving. Earlier this week; refuelled as usual with 515 miles range showing, drove a gentle 40 miles and then had Range of 525 plus the 40 I'd drive = 565 miles Not really ever had less than 395 miles.
