so they are not crisps - it's official. Who'd a thunk it? I always wondered how they got slices of potato once cooked to curl so to spoon as they do in the carton ... There's an advantage to that though:
BBC NEWS | Business | Pringles 'are not potato crisps'

Of course, onion rings are similarly extruded (depressing isn't it) but I'm now wondering if VAT would be on those since they are not crisps either? I think I'll write to my EU MP and ask for these disparities in our VAT laws to be clarified

Re: It turns out that Pringles are extruded...

I once wrote to Pringles in a druken state to ask them if they could put a divider half way down the tube and a cap on either end, thus stopping the stuggle or reaching down the tube or saving the face full of crumbs when you tip one up.

Never did get a reply.

Re: It turns out that Pringles are extruded...

Should have gone "straight to the top" - it seems our judiciary has ample time to consider these important matters.

Erm... you don't usually get crumbs with Pringles unless you played hockey with the carton on the way home. The best thing is to spread most of them out on a plate and decide which one to eat first When you say "s** it, can't decide", there'll still be a couple left in the cartoon and by that time, even the crumbs are welcome

Mo

PS Don't forget to hoover up the crumbs in case pro tem you can claim the VAT back on them.

That's genius - only a mechanic would think of that.

Pringles - and every one tastes just like the one before

But I'd never have guessed they were extruded

do Hula hoops fall into the same category, as surely they'd use a similar recipe.

Just bought some hula's today as they're on a bogof. They're potato (potato starch and dried potato), rice flour and maize flour - in that order, it doesn't say in what proportion. I'm now wondering if they might be extruded too!

It may be part of the ingredients, but it's not a maize snack. Wotsits and skips are mainly maize based.

Not the salted or S&V ones as I'm pretty damn allergic to it so the rest are out.

IIRC one of the fats in them goes straight through you so you eat more though :o
