Car: race blue Octavia () | Octavia vRS PD 170 remap Had mine remapped by Will on saturday, have since done 700 miles+ and initial impressions are great. Loads more low speed grunt, feels smoother and fuel consumption slighlty improved. Came over to uk from france and the return journey on a deserted autoroute was very impressive, cruising at indicated 120 on just light throttle for over an hour and car will now pull 6th gear to the red line. Very impressed by the remap , it is not too brutal in its power delivery and great value . Cheers Will

So why is it so expensive? where is the £400 cost in haveing a re-map?

Car: Red Octavia (Standard+ P-Torque) | Re: Octavia Vrs pd 170 remap The money goes into his and everyone else's time and money developing the map.
Its not just a simple case of hooking it up to a laptop and looking busy for 20 minutes

That is not long enough to carry out health checks before mapping, never mind the actual mapping!!
We charge £350 all in to members.

What model are you looking at mapping? If its the 170PD, then all of these are mapped via the OBD port, making it difficult to detect the mapping.
If a dealer wanted to look in depth at the ECU, then they could get a good idea that it had been mapped, but they cant see the actual differences within the software.
We have mapped for some VAG dealers and specialists, and to date have had no issues with warranties etc etc at all

I am seriously interested in a map, but i cannot have it so it is detectable by a scanner... | Personally I'd go for it, unless you are activily looking for a remap it's undetectable. My personal preference would be for a switchable map ie. one that can be switched between performance and stock modes then you can have the best advantages of both but costs somewhat more!

Car: BlackMagic Roomster (c 140bhp) | Re: Octavia vRS PD 170 remap I would do it, Will knows his stuff, Mine is so smooth and pulls power right to 4.5k in the slug.
I drove a Leon with a switcheable map on it at my local SEAT dealer, by the time you have the map and then the "switch" your at almost double the cost of Will's work, and mine was smoother, and as I say holds it all the way to the red line which the Leon didn't
