Have you got an aftermarket filter on, if so what is it?!
Misfires normally indicate coilpacks gone, lean error codes normally indicate MAF faulty. What was the issue you had with it last week though, what did the dealer fit?
I'd not rule out the MAF, 2 months is a long time and I've seen ones from the factory not working... however for it to get to the point where it's misfiring due to that the MAF would be b*ggered.

Hiya again, thankyou for your insight, yes i have an aftermarket filter on, i have the carbonio on it, the issue i had with it friday was the fuse box on top of the battery had melted the black connection which was draining the battery, they have replaced the fuse box along with the fuse which has melted, i'm confused, my lads are up now so am going to get them dressed/fed etc and then go over to skoda, fingers crossed they arent too busy

Ok so now i am less than impressed, i now have NO car as skoda have now told me the car is not safe to drive any longer, because if the damage hasnt been caused it could be by driving it further. They also have no courtesy cars in untill the 3rd of september and i dont have the funds to hire, as a self employed person this is causing a great deal of hassle and i now have to have time off on top of everything else

Anyway fume over and i'll update on what they have said, i took it in this morning and he ran all the checks he could which didnt find anything wrong with the engine, i told him about the 5 hour remap and he said it must have something to do with that as the engine seems mechanically sound, he told me to taker it back to the guy who did the 5 hour and get him to sort it.............

but then things went from bad to worse, you all know the stutter on idle was there which was the original problem, well now there is a squeal (coming from the turbo ) and the engine management light is on, as a result i have been told i can not drive the car no further and it will have to stay there 1 until they have the time to look at it and 2 until they can figure out what the hell is wrong with it,

I am absolutely fuming, this is the last thing i needed at the moment (more expense) and to have to take time off work on top of it all is even worse

OMG
Hope you get it sorted soon - and cheaply.

I'll bet you're fuming. Move all crockery out the way and leave all the doors everywhere open.

Best of luck

Thankyou, this is one of those situations where it seems awfull and it is probably going to end up being something or nothing and we will be laughing about it in a week (i hope )

I think its just coincidental, this thread was started to see if anyone else had the same problems and as nobody has come forward saying they have i am guessing that it was just something weak on our engine which as a result of having more power put through it has now gone

Anyhow i will let you all know what it was when i find out and thankyou for your kind words

Have just spoken to the guy at malton who originally put the 5 hour remap on and he has very kindly agreed to come up and flash the ecu back to all the original settings, i know this won't clear the problem but at least skoda can't blame that then, so at least thats one small point sorted

have you got the newer coilpacks on it? i have had revo from the first week i bought my VRS(bought it at 37.000 miles) and the coilpacks started to play up after a week or so,full on management light, smelling of eggs, running on 3 cyclinders, etc etc. bouhgt new coilpacks, fitted them myself, then took the ones off it back to skoda who refunded me as they are a "kind of " recall item. everything else has gone wrong with my vrs since then, none related to the engine/REVO.cars now on 76.000 miles,so nearly 30,000 miles on it now.
a remap of any kind can bring out faults in the car,as everything is under more stress. some more than others.
do i get a free stage 2 for the big up kev ?

edit:btw mines yellow too,so it can't be revo

yes that is what we think has happened it has brought up a slight fault it had and due to the extra pressure it has now gone, just hope its nothing too serious now, the guy who did it is gonna put it back on factory settings tomorrow so skoda cant moan and we will take it from there, thankyou for your insight

Chris, did you check the voltage with the engine running. The noise could be an overload on the alternator?

The mechanic at skoda today listened to the engine and said the noise was coming from the turbo, in his words "it could be anything from a pipe blown off to the turbo on its way out" so who knows, he said he would ring asap and hasnt done today so am presuming he didnt get chance to look at it today fingers crossed for us tomorrow, the squealing is all the time unless running in boost, when not in boost or on tickover it sounds awful, hence why he told me i couldnt drive it no longer, tomorrow it is getting any trace of the remap flashed out so it can't be blamed on that (as we are certain it isnt that) and the mechanic is going to check everything then.

I believe Ben is coming out to you when he can get away today... then Skoda will have nothing else to blame! Unfortunatley most main dealers now are trained to replace parts rather than diagnose and repair.

Jason, buy me a beer and I'll consider it!

Yes ben is coming out this morning, he has just rung me to let me know as i cant actually get to my car, skoda never blamed revo for the problem all they said was they didnt know what revo had changed therefore didnt know if that was the problem, hence them telling me to get revo taken off the car,

both companies (revo and skoda) have been very helpfull throughout this situation and i appreciate it, personally i think its not just the product you should sell but aftercare also which both have been persistent in doing

also skoda have rung me this morning and there is a breather pipe which has collapsed on the car (the one that attaches to the main engine block then runs on to the turbo intake pipe) they dont think this is all the problem but obviously it may have something to do with it, they are ordering one in for tomorrow which they will then fit and see what the car is doing then, i think its just a process of eliminating anything and everything at the moment

Thanks to everyone who has helped and given advice/opinions and we shall keep you updated on what happens

p.s fao jason, thankyou for your input, nobody was actually giving experiences so i had nothing to go on, have now heard from a few very satisfied revo customers but havent heard from any disgruntled ones, i think that in itself says something dont you??

Final Update:

ben who did the trial has now flashed the car back to standard, thankyou for your help in this matter ben.

thankyou to revokev who has assisted with advice.

As for this being a revo problem it obviously wasnt as the car cant decide whats wrong with it nevermind anyone else and as nobody has reported any actual problems with the revo software the only responses i have had have been good so for revo, must be nice to know that you have no disgruntled customers

as for the car, i havent got a clue, when ben got to it is was back running normal, but obviously the mechanic has heard the noise from the turbo so he is keeping it in anyway to figure out what had gone wrong, one of the breather pipes on top of the engine keeps collapsing which isnt the full problem but isnt helping so he is going to replace that tomorrow morning and then go from there,

Thankyou to everyone who has tried to help in this matter and hopefully we will get our car back soon.

I think as has been said before it is not unusual for a car to be mapped and then a problem be highlighted. I hope you get a reasonable outcome soon, it seems as though everyone is trying to help you through it which is good.
