| Hopefully I can pick someones brains with this? A friend at work has got a Revo'd Leon (180bhp standard) and he can't sing its praises highly enough and having been out in it it does seem a pretty good improvement over the way my standard Octy vRS drives (different cars I know but much-of-a-muchness-really!) Anyway, he was quoted gains to 212bhp and 232ftlb torque. The only graphs and details available on the Revo site are shown for the 1.8t 4x4 Octavia and show as 207bhp. Can anyone confirm or deny this.. its not putting me off getting it done.. but I'd like to know that I could atleast equal (or better.. if possible) my mates Leon. Oh.. also, does sorting out the breathing pre or post, make any different to these generic maps? Thanks.

| I'd hazard a guess that if you make "breathing" changes, you'd be better off with a more customised map. Last thing you want is the engine running lean, and the turbo getting too hot ! I had a generic Superchips map on a (normally aspirated) Ford some years ago, and it started to pink like crazy when I made induction changes. Fortunately the bods at Superchips put it all right, but it meant having a customised map. Matching your friend's power output is all very well, but don't forget to take kerbweights into account. I have a colleague here who has a mere 130bhp engine in his car - but because it's a Caterham that weighs about as much as one of my shoes, it piddles all over my Octy vRS ![]() Si

| Breathing mods don't require a 'custom' map on these cars, the Bosch ME7 ECU runs an Adaptive ignition... basically the ECU monitors the engine sensors and corrects specified values accordingly. We quote 207bhp but with Revo being adjustable it can differ vastly dependant on settings. Would also depend on how/where you were measuring power/torque and what the conditions/fuel quality/settings/tyre pressures/etc. are. On the road the difference between your VRS and a Cupra with software on should be down to the driver unless one of the cars has issues. Having said that the Leon's got a 6speed box which feels much friskier to drive whereas the 5speed in the VRS feels a bit lazier. Haven't checked gear ratios though. |

| Was his the 'old style' 4bar map? Revo used to do 2 maps, one with the std 3bar map which was good for 207bhp (iirc) and one for use with a 4bar fpr, 216bhp (iirc). Could this be the difference?

| Cheers guys. He's 'only' had the remap, no other bits fitted as yet so it won't be the 4bar map unless the Cupras come with them as standard..
