Default V-Power & REVO

Have used Optimax pretty consistently which I believe the Generic maps are written around (or not as the case may be?). What difference if any can we expect from the introduction of Shell's new V-Power fuel?. Will the maps need to be re-coded to compensate?.

I don't think they'll need compensation so much as tweaking to make full use.

Those that have had a map since the introduction of V-Power would have seen, if they were watching Jim do it , that he made some alterations to the timing and boost to take advantage of the fuel.

Apparently you can make full use of higher octane fuel.

Why would you hope that it's over a quid a litre? I'm much happier paying the current sub quid a litre.

I beleive it would just be a case of chaging the fuel timings in the select plus software.

Take a look at the user guide:

Revo albeit a generic map is switchable/adjustable, use the above guide and see what settings the car can run in the given conditions with the given fuel quality!

Interesting......today I filled up with Tesco 97 ron unleaded, and after a few miles the car felt strangely smoother than with the 99 ron V Power in. I was quite taken aback, expecting the car to run rougher and less responsively, when in fact the opposite has occured. Further to this, I've altered the select plus settings to allow more boost, and lo and behold, it now pulls like a train in every gear, right through the rev band, without so much as a hiccup. I'm baffled. The up side, is Tesco fuel is alot cheaper than Shell.

I thought most Tesco's had replaced 97 with 99 now, that's certainly the case with all the stores I've been to. I use V-Power far more often than Tesco 99 but when I have there's been no noticable difference. I've yet to do timing logs and adjustments on my current setup which I should really do and it would also be good to get some hard data comparing the 2 fuels.

Just out of interest, what are/were your Boost & Timing settings?.

Currently running stage 2, with twintercooler and the select plus settings are:-
Boost 8
Timing 5
Air/Fuel 9

I've tried every possible combination on V Power, and every setting makes the car feel like it has a flat spot, which is probably the timing trying to adjust itself. Im halfway through a tank of 97 ron Tesco (99 not avaliable in Blackpool) and its so smooth, with no decrease in performance. Still cracks 60mph in 5.7 on my g tech.

Do you know what difference you would get from boost 6 vs. boost 8?

It depends on the conditions and what settings are best suited to them... unlikely you'll see huge differences. If you can get away with running a little more then higher boost levels will give 'slightly' more aggressive requests throughout the rev range.
