| Re: French Road Traffic Law Yes, Radar detectors are banned over there, even if they are in your glovebox. One thing about driving in France - try to avoid the toll motorways as the police seem to choose those to pick on speeding motorists.The normal 'A' roads are just as quick as they are usually dual carriageway and nearly always half empty.I have driven to Spain, Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany etc from Calais many many times and never once been stopped for speeding on the A roads, even at speeds in excess of 120MPH.The other good thing is French drivers always flash you to warn you of a speed trap - it seems common decency over there.Also, at traffic hold-ups/accidents on motorways, everyone, and i mean everyone and his dog have their hazards on.They drive really quick, they tailgate you and they take real stupid risks at times, but they are very polite drivers and I have never ever seen road rage like you do in the UK, with the 2-finger salute being virtually non-existant over there. |

| Re: French Road Traffic Law I would agree with that. I was over there last year late during the holiday season and the two lane expressways jobbies were empty. The first time I saw traffic police was in the destination resort, having driven 700 K from Calais !. Also, your right about the tailgating. I had council lorry try that on with me. I got so p*ssed-off with him not overtaking on a clear straightroad that I pulled-over and let him pass. Looks like heir pretty heavy on speeding. The Frech Highway Code - When the locals spotted the traffic motorcycle cops last year, the anchors went on and everything became very proper. Nick, 13/05/08
