Default House Sold

Completion today, cash in the bank

Can't express how bloody delighted I am given today's market - it really was make or break, with my relocation down to Wiltshire if this sale had fallen through (looked like it would do a couple of weeks ago) I think I'd have been well and truely 'rubber ducked' financialy - faced with paying a mortgage on a house in Preston (market flooded with 3 bedroom semi's) whilst shelling out £850 per month in rent down here....

Will I be jumping back in... no chance, I fully intend to sit back for a full 12+ months and not have to worry about mortages, houses, hips or anything house related

Congrats, I wish we could sell our house, with the cost of such a long commute to work I can't wait to sell and get moved.

Yes.... like I said 12 months +

The crazy thing is I'm renting a house I could't aford to buy..

Must admit quite nice knowing I haven't got a mortgage anymore and some cash in the bank, if we decided to relocate once again in a year or so's time it would be so simple

I'm enjoying renting now after selling my house when I split from the ex. I sold end of Feb right at the peak before prices started dropping. My £1100 mortgage is now almost half that in rent.

Nail on head.

Well done in being able to get your situation sorted. If you don't mind me asking (and I'm not expecting exact details) but in percentage terms how much less did you sell for than simialr houses are currently on the market for? You know, the ones that aren't selling.

55? 10%? 20% more?

I'd take a stab at 15-20% but would be interested to know.

7.27% to be exact.....

However, the offer was accepted back in February - if I'd only accepted an offer no I'd fully expect it to be in the 15-20% region you estimated.

I'm thanking my lucky stars as I really do think I escaped at the last possible moment

Dont say never, there will be some desperate to sell so keep one eye on the market, if you see something you really like offer 20% below & dont budge, you might get lucky, some are, especially on new houses as builders are trying to shift stock
