| Dealer phoned this morning. Wife wants a Scout with a few extras - panoramic sunroof being one of them. You would not think this to be an unreasonable optional extra (seeing as the Scout in the brochure has one!!) - dealer could not find 1 in the country, and said 17 week factory order!!!??? Is he having me on or what? (of course tried to point me in direction of an ex demo Roomster 3 which is nothing like what the Mrs is after!) 10-12 week order I might expect - but 17 weeks?? No disrespect to Skoda - but it isn't like I am ordering a GT3 Porsche in Lime green with naked ladies on the bonnet!Anyone else been quoted ridiculous order times? |

| 12 weeks is the normal build time imoa. but recently i have seen that octavias have gone back further and further and some are going to build 15 weeks after order. havent checked the scout roo, but it could be the same. i heard there was a production hiccup recently, but i cant for the life of me find the info on it. so quite possibly he wasnt pulling your leg im afraid!

| Ordered my Octavia scout in early march and was told April / May delivery. I went for xenons, sat nav, and leather as main options. 17 weeks does seem a long time though. Perhaps its the naked ladies taking the time to procure. |

| It could be that it goes over a holiday shutdown period.

| Maybe he meant it will start production in week 17. Why don't you phone the dealer and confirm? |

| I guess the dealer may be covering his back. My wife was in a similar situation a few weeks ago and our local dealer would not commit to a new build date until he had a firm order with deposit. He said that the build may be as little as a month but could be upto three or four months. We also wanted a 1.9tdi Scout with the panoramic roof and were told by the dealer that we would not find an ex demo anywhere in the country. However I looked at Skodas own website over the course of the next few days and found one at a dealer within a couple of hours drive. Phoned him, sorted out the part ex of her old Fabia and arranged for collection a couple of weeks later. Now had the car a fortnight and love it. The best bit is that we saved enough cash to buy half a new kitchen for a car that was less than 3 months old and less than 3K miles. Not an '08' but a personal plate hides that. The Skoda website is a touch slow and needs patience. Ours was not described as having the roof but the pictures clearly showed it and this was quickly confirmed on the phone. Just taken a look and there is a silver Scoutster 1.9 at Dartford - hope that helps. |
