Just a quick update, Ordered the facia adaptor from my local dealer - took a couple of days to arrive. Very easy fit and included a phantom power adaptor for the aerial. £30 including VAT i didn't think was too bad. Just remember you'll also require a harness adaptor if you are fitting a another make of radio - readilly avaiable of the internet for about £10

Hi bluroom. What DAB radio have you got and how does it perform? I've been thinking of going DAB but I've been told that mobile reception on DAB is very poor. Fred

My DAB Is a Sony CDX-DAB6650, i've been very pleased with it. Sound great and DAB reception seems okay, i live in the midlands but drive all over the UK and don't have much of a problem unless i'm really off the beaten track and even then the Sony has a feature that it will kick over to analogue reception if it loses the DAB signal - this really only applies to the BBC stations that are available on analogue. The trick seems to be to get a really good DAB Aerial, the one orignally supplied was a windscreen mount which had tiny wires that taped to the inside of the windscreen, it worked okay. But i decided to go for a proper DAB whip aerial which is mounted on the rear drivers side glass, dead easy to fit too. I managed to pick my Sony unit up from a supplier on E-bay for £120 including aerial, they are about £240 in Halfords. Hope this helps Andy

Does it make the speakers sound better. I have wondered if the sound could be improved by a better head unit or Amp. Or if it was limited by the standard Roomster Speaker set up to begin with. Since you are running a new Sony Head Unit, Does music sound better ? Bass improved or manage to go any loader without distoration than the factory fit Dance unit ?

Try fiddling with the settings, my dad works in Hifi and had a play with it so I now have the "loud" option turned off, bass pretty low (like 1-2) but when you turn the volume up the bass is still there and the sound quality good. If you like it quieter I guess it's best to still have "loud" on.

The Sony unit does improve the sound, it certainly sounds 'fuller' and it doesn't run out of steam as quickly as the Dance unit, but the results are marginal, the factory fit speakers are now the limiting factor and i think i'll be changing them in the near future. I previously had the sony in my old Volvo V70 and it sounded chuffin awesome, but it did have larger speakers. If it was just down to sound quality improvements i'm not sure i'd have made the switch, it was mainly for the DAB option and the fact i already had the Sony unit. I reckon Decron's sub under the seat idea may the way forward in the mean time, i'm going to give one a try

The DAB Reception is fine with a decent external glass mount aerial, i haven't had a problem even at high speed's. Only get reception problems in really remote areas.

| Yeah remote ares like Berwick , where we are still waiting for DAB reception , even though Curry's have been selling DAB home radios in their local store for years!!!
