Roomster Remap?

Has anyone had their Roomster remapped or added any performance upgrades? I bought a used Roomster 3 1.9TDi last week and would be interested to hear any experiences. This is my second one - I got rid of a 1.4 TDi as it just did not have the power I was looking for.

I think I might be able to point you in a few directions

Firstly you need to take the following into account: If you drove a new pd 105 it will seem a little tight. They loosen up nicely after about 5k and you get a much better drive. TBH the performance is quite good out of the PD 105, it's not a hot hatch afterall It will easily see off any Kangoo, Berlingo, most of the Scenics, Notes, Modes etc although it does have a bit of trouble keeping up with an S-Max....

There are plenty of remap solutions as it's the same crack as the Golf V Pd105. You will be looking at about 130-5bhp and about 300-10nm or there abouts which will give you plenty of Ooomph (It's a little lighter than a Fabia VRS so in theory it would perform on a par). Revo do code as do a fair few other tuners. I had been looking at the Bluefin for it and although it looks like an excellent product it's only just the right side of £600 From what I have read on various VAG forums about the PD105 is that it's a good mapper. In otherwords you get a fair increase, a good curve and the longevity of the engine is not much removed from standard.

I have just bought a Dragon tuning box for mine which is promising 128bhp and 290nm. I am not worried so much about the figures as they are just a guide but as the box is adjustable and removable and it was only £150 I think this is a good comprimise. I doubt the curve will be as well setup as a remap but it should add a lot more "drivability" and flexability to the engine. Ill post a review when I get some miles on it.

In terms of handling, the standard Roomy is excellent for what it is which is a small MPV with a diesel engine. The PD unit makes it a little front heavy causeing understeer and of course being a tall car it's prone to a little body roll. The solution to this can be found in this thread - Believe me when I say that my Roomy WILL outhandle a standard Fabia VRS

When the pads are due I'll upgrade these too but thats some time off. I can't see any point in taking the mods any further from my point of view (I think I said this about my Fabia....). It is after all a family vehicle although I suppose there is nothing wrong with daddy having a little fun

Having recently purchased a Roomster 2, 1.9tdi I would be pleased to hear regarding fuel consumption figures too! Still running in, but a run to Edinburhg this weekend should crack the 2000 miles marker...

REVO is available for the 105pd...we have it on our Fabia Sport....
