Whilst we grabbed some flowers from Biggar (nice town) and I was talking of this little roomster. Lo and behold, one parked up opposite so we went and had a shufty.

After a lot of positives, I thought excellent this is going well...

It is bloody ugly though


Noooooo.

Fortunately it was raining so the roomster looked sad and hurt. Situation rescued and test drive permitted soon

Just hope it's comfortable to drive 200+ miles in.

It's not ugly, it's distinctive although I do think it looks better from the back

I do 2-300 mile trips in it weekly and it's great, infact I have done just under 10k since mid october and it's been fantastic.

New Roomster gets top marks from me, over the Fabia.

I love the Scount we have sat in the show room!

Realised how much they look like that Toyota Yaris Verso though.....!

Even the Front door window line in similar!

I've had my roomster 3 for nearly 12 months now, so it's 12 months since the fabia vrs went and 17 monts since the octavia vrs went.

One of my main reasons for getting rid of the fabia was down to the fact that after a couple of hours my back was knackered in it (octy went due to wife working in London so it was pointless having two cars). For three months last year I drove to London and back in the roomster nearly every weekend non-stop and I could get out of the car at the end of the journey and not feel totally knackered, now I go up to Carlisle and down to Poole on a regular basis and again I'm not knackered like I used to be in the Fabia or to a lesser extent in the octy.

I've also noticed I'm less stressed in the car now - I sit there quite happilly at 75-80 rather than 100-110 like I used to and I don't care if people over take me.

The roomster is an ugly car you simply cannot escape that but form the inside you don't see the outsideso personally I can live with that.

I've got the 1.9tdi in 3 level trim (with the black interior). I was tempted by the scout but wanted cruise, parking sensors and the glass roof which were all extra on the scout so it made more financial sense to go for the 3 and I don't regret it.

As for the driving experience well I find it really comfortable - long journeys are relaxing, it's a cruising car no question about that. When I picked it up I went straight to the triangle to see how it handled and at first it felt wooden compared to the two vrs - I was kacking myself over the body roll but it isn't bad compared to other cars (Vauxhall Agila for example). After a couple of hours I was chucking it around and although it isn't as planted as the vrs' it handles well for what it is although attention to the roll bars does apparently make a difference

I've done nearly 20k in it and have averaged 46.4 mpg without trying to drive economically.

The space in the back is great for two well fed adults and I've had four well fed adults and the baby in it with no issues. I move a double sofa bed in it and was shocked when it only just hung out of the back with the seats removed.

Overall I'd say it doeas what it says on the tin well and without fuss.

It's not.

I know about these things.

In fact I'm an expert.

I owned two pre-facelift Fiat Multiplas. They were great cars, but leave the Roomster standing in the ugly stakes.

Biggar .... was it blue or silver, if silver then it might have been swmbo. But the blue one is also very local. Biggar... has the best chip shop in the country (this year) a good ice cream shop. The roomster is not everyone's cup of tea, but is very practical and you csn't see what it looks like when you're sat inside!

London's big, but Biggar is Biggar!

@Decron, that car you've suggested is ugly...you're not wrong one bit. To me it looks like the 80's delorean, after 4 kids and a lot of pizza's, maybe I need more sleep

Re meeting, yes if I'd though I could of organised a pub met, but time was really tight unfortunately. As it happens we got up there late and left late having canceled a walk on the Pentlands...ho hum, next time

Thanks Andy, I know your driving style and I know you like the triangle. In fact it was a target for my test drive.

Town on scout v 3. I really want to retain cruise, I should be able to park it, but those little beeps make things a bit quicker. Of course they also spot grass coloured rocks at night.

I was going to avoid modding for a few years, need to focus on life issues and moving house along with other things...

I enjoyed test driving one.Went well and was comfy

Once again though it was the wife who said no way.Looked like a hearse

Fair enough I suppose as it was going to be the main car for her and the kids.Ended up with an X trail which you can pick up for a £1.

You can get the Scout with Cruise despite it not saying it's an option. ESP is standard which it isn't on the 3
