What a boot!

Having come from a Fiat Multipla, with a very wide and high boot, though not that deep with all seats in place, I was a bit concerned that the much narrower Roomster might lose out on boot space for family holidays. We're off to the airport in a couple of weeks. so I thought I'd better try the cases in the boot.

Wahay! Slid the rear seats forward around 3 inches, still leaving adequate knee room for 4 adults, and was amazed by the space. The boot swallowed one big case (that'll weigh in at 20kg+ at check-in) and four slightly smaller ones, and still left space (with the parcel shelf out) for lots of hand luggage. We could have left the shelf in place with just 4 cases.

I'm sure that Skoda could be making more of this feature in their advertising; it's sooo much larger than boots on most similar sized cars and, I'm sure, better at taking multiple large cases than was the Multipla.

I have just come back from the dealers, I have been comparing the Roomster Scout with the Fabia Estate the boot in the Scout is a couple of inches less than the estate until you move the Roomster’s rear seats forward then you gain more room.
It will be great for the children too.

It's pretty good even with the seats back and so versatile too with the movable seats. I'm amazed that it's shorter than my Octavia yet has so much more rear passenger leg room plus a decent boot too.

Ha was doing the same thing yesterday!

The critical thing for us though is how well 3 child seats fit strapped in the back; (Maxi-Cosi Cabrio, Maxi-Cosi Tobi, & likely the Maxi-Cosi Rodi in about a years time...) Anyone in a similar situation that could shed some light on how well this works in either of these models, the Roomster Scout or FabiaII Combi Sport {calling all Combi's Space's in my local market}?

Oh & as we haven't started to receive the Roomster Scout's yet. Anyone able to verify how the extra 50mm of hight in the scout are distributed?

If you look at the quoted volumes for Fabia Estate and Roomster boots, the latter wins with seats both up and down, ISTR. It's also a very regular shape, which helps with big cases.

Funny to see this thread today. I spent a part of the morning moving a 3-piece suite - two armchairs and a 2-seat sofa. I removed the rear seats and took the sofa in one load, the two chairs in another. I wouldn't have imagined how easy it would be.

I think my mind is made up on the Roomster Scout over the Fabia Estate.
Is there anything about the Roomster that people who have them, don't like.
One thing I noticed when I drove the Scout is the bottom right hand corner of the front windows has that slope on it does that cause any visibility issues?
Have there been any mechanical problems?

The two outside seats will use Isofix and the middle seat will use the seatbelt however I am not sure if it's wide enough to handle three seats but I could be wrong

Thanx for trying to help. Yet that much I knew... Besides the seats I mentioned I use in their non-Isofix versions, as it helps reduce the width a bit (Oh & their initial expense)!

While at the dealership, I managed to strap our seats in the Roomster. Also fit in the FabiaII yet a bit tighter. Used the floor model booster seat in place of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP, as we're not at that stage yet. What I'd like to determine though. Is if someone has real-life experience using 3 child seats in either of these models? Best with the Sport seats as their more sculpted & will likely effect this slightly. As they do in my 2004 Seat Ibiza Sport. Yet I don't have a middle seat 3 point belt thus the additional difficulty securing 3 child seats in it...

Still awhile off till I need to worry about the 3rd child seat, as the 2nd was only born last month & the 1st back in 2005. Yet I wasn't yet married when I bought the Ibiza back in 2003 & I'd fully expect that a 3rd kid is a real possibility before we'd change cars once again...

I haven't found it a problem. The all-round visibility is great, helped by the low rear windows. Found it much better than the new Fabia hatch for visibility.

The only visibility 'problem' you may find is the rather large D-style, but that's more a matter on positioning your mirrors.

The Roomster is indeed amazingly 'roomy'. Before it, I had a Suzuki Baleno Estate. On vacations, the boot was packed up to the roof and I needed a Thule-baggage box as well.

Last vacation, I removed the middle rear seat, stuffed a flat bag under the front passenger seat, then went on loading the car. By the time I was done, the whole didn't even reach window level

As far as malfunctions are concerned; I once or twice lost sound over the speakers. This was solved the next time I started the car.
Apart from a mirror-heating needing a bit of coaxing, that was just about it in 15 months and 58000 km's.

My main reason for choosing my Roomster was ease of access, and comfort, for my disabled wife. But its roominess was really proved last week when I had a 3-piece suite to move. I removed the rear seats and shifted two armchairs in one load and the sofa in another. Formidable!

Indeed, it's not just the size of the boot it's the shape. I used to be able to fit more in my Mk4 Golf than my mk4 Astra estate because it was a much better use of the space. The only drawback with the Roomster boot is the floor isn't level with the load space
