Hi

Hi

Just registered. Knew about Briskoda for a few years now but only just bought my first Skoda. Previous VAG group cars were a 2000 Lupo 1.0 SE in Jazz Blue (Was in PVW and also on Club Lupo) and a 2002 SEAT Leon S 1.4 16v in Platinum Grey (See Seatcupra.net). Both were modified.

Have just bought a 2001 Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v Elegance Estate in black. Had to be an estate due to needing room for the kids stuff (pushchair etc). The car has a few minorish problems which I'm going to sort out asap with the first one being a full set of brakes as its basically metal on metal. Other problems include:-

Electric window switch panels not working/damaged
Door mirror heaters not working (relay clicks and Fuse 38 is fine)
Air Con needs servicing
Knocking noise when going over bumps (bushes I think)
Middle Air Vents damaged
Boot wont open via the release button between the number plate lights. Opens fine via the key fob and the the interior boot release lever.
Rear washer doesn't work. Can hear the motor but I think the pipe has come off from the bottle as I can hear water running onto the floor from the front.

Also need to get around to putting Vagcom on the car as well at some point.

Just thought Id re-introduce myself following my latest purchase!

Was on here before when I had an Octavia vRS but that subsequently got sold and quite a few cars later Ive come back to Skoda; this time with a Fabia vRS!
Standard apart from a 170bhp re-map and covered 50-odd k with full history:
Not going too over the top with it modification wise, got a 'Ring trip planned for the end of April so brakes and suspension are the main things on the cards..

Hi from N, Ireland

Ive had my Fabia now for about a month and have to say its the best wee car I`ve ever had!

Found this forum yesterday and have spend hours browsing the pages, and am loving the project pages especially,

well a bit about me and my car , Im 33 from Co Down in Northern Ireland, and am currently driving an 03 Fabia 1.2 6v . Classic.
Ive already had a few repairs done in the short time that Ive had her:

Lower arm bushes replaced ( under warrenty )
replaced standard gear knob and gator with leather ones, ( a pig of a job , but looks great)
had dent / paint work repaired on the sill , that i failed to notice when i bought the car. cost £150 to fix with one of those mobile repair companys and have to say the repair was brill.
removed the standard skoda radio and fitted a sony usb headunit..... am still trying to find the wiring for the rear speakers.... begining to think it dosent exist...

currently trying to fit an alarm to the car and have made a good start, having the ultrasonics in place but am having probs trying to route a cable from the cabin to the engine bay any ideas?

Im also after a set of alloys so if anyone else on here from Ireland has a set in good nick and is wanting to part with them please give me a shout

What oil in Octavia tdi

Hi and sorry to have to ask as I am sure its been covered many times before but what oil do I use in my 2003 octavia tdi 110bhp elegance? Also what are the service intervals? I mainly do motorway miles if this makes any difference. Also the clutch pedal sometimes stays down and needs a little nudge with foot to lift it back up is this likely to be the clutch slave cylinder? if so how hard job are they or how much is it likely to cost to get done?
Owner of a newly aquired 56 plate Fabia VRS. I did lurk here a while before I bought, and it helped me decide upon the Fabia VRS, and what to look out for when buying one.

Owned many boring cars to do my 100 mile round trip commute. I also own an old TVR wedge 350I (sunny weekend fun). I think I have found a great car to commute in, very impressed by its peformance so far.
Going to head straight over to the Fabia forum, and tuck right in . . .

Blog Update: BRISKODA - Skoda scoops two more accolades

Škoda scoops two more accolades

Brand named Most Improved Fleet Manufacturer

Superb model crowned Best Upper-Medium Car

Škoda shines at Fleet News awards

Škoda added an impressive two more trophies to its already bulging awards cabinet this month, as the manufacturer won twice at the Fleet News awards 2010.
The brand was named the Most Improved Fleet Manufacturer and the Superb model won the accolade of Best Upper-Medium car, at a glitzy awards ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on the 16 March.
Commenting, Martin Burke, Škoda’s head of fleet sales, who collected the awards on the evening, said: “Over the past few years, our team has worked hard to educate fleet managers on the benefits of choosing Škoda over another brand, and it is excellent to see that hard work really paying off.

“We have an excellent selection of products on the market, which perfectly fit the fleet offering, particularly the Octavia and Superb models, and since its launch in 2008, the Superb has really shone brightly as an exemplary luxury vehicle for both work and home. I’m really proud of everyone in the factory, the brand and the retailer network who has contributed to this success. It’s recognition for us all.”

The judges contending the Most Improved Fleet Manufacturer category, said: “[This was] a unanimous decision thanks to Škoda’s improved products, better support from the fleet department and the dealer network.” Regarding the Superb, they added: “High quality, more legroom and excellent cabin comfort make the Superb the best place to be when chalking up big miles.”

Fleet News added: “Škoda has gone from strength-to-strength in 2009 and its flagship Superb typifies the carmaker’s success. Škoda achieved a record 1.6 per cent share of the corporate market in 2009; a tremendous performance considering it had no presence in fleet only five years ago.

“There are many rational reasons for choosing the Superb, including competitive residual vales and all-round running costs. There is also a low-emission GreenLine version allowing the Superb to offer among the lowest benefit-in-kind tax liability.”

Hello everyone!

Hi everyone, Ollie here, from Barnsley.

I currently drive a Honda Integra Type R (UK DC2) but due to my commute to work which is mainly on the motorway I am looking to replace it with an Octavia VRS MK1. I don't need the space but I think it is the best looking out of all the VAG cars of the same era and has the best interior and has the bonus of the rare status

I am after a silver or black saloon with less than 45k on the clock, although I may consider slightly higher mileage based on condition.

Just doing a bit of digging through the old posts to get some more info and I will be posting some details of my car and see if it takes anyone's fancy.

Many thanks

Timing belt replacement period

My Service book for my Octavia 2 2006, diesel with DSG states that the timing belt is replaced every 120000km. However, I have just been told by the local Skoda Dealer that it should be replaced after 4 years despite the fact that the car only has 40K miles on clock. Seems to me that they are just making extra work for themselves. Any similar comments?
