Woven cloth SMOC patches group buy FEELER ONLY

I want to have a couple of woven cloth patches made up to cover some unwanted logos on some jackets.

I was planning on getting the SMOC logo, the same as the vinyl ones we had made up last year, on a rectangular patch.
Size would be about 40mm X 80mm. Maybe a little bigger?
but the cost of producing just 2 is more than I really want to pay.

However, the cost comes down dramatically the more are supplied.

An example of this is:
quantity: 1, price: 18.85 GBP per item, total: 18.85 GBP
quantity: 5, price: 5.26 GBP per item, total: 26.30 GBP
quantity: 10, price: 3.47 GBP per item, total: 34.70 GBP
quantity: 20, price: 2.50 GBP per item, total: 50.00 GBP

So, is anybody interested?

I am in the process of getting accurate prices.

My Nephew was on a visit the other day and made a remark about the similarity Between his Dad's Panda and the Snow Monster (Yeti) that was parked along the road. "That Skoda looks like a pumped up version of our car" After our chat I have to say I agree to a degree with his observation. The Panda they own has roof rails and a raised ride hight being the 4X4 version And a similar window arrangement to the rear. I wonder if anyone else share's this view.

Storage Bags for removable seats

Good Morning,
When I get my Yeti in March we will be removing the centre seat and making the Yeti into a 4 seater.

But does anyone know if anyone makes a bag in which to store the centre seat in to protect it from knicks etc, with it being a leather seat I want to protect it.

A quick search on Bing hasn't produced any results?

Collective term for a group of yeti

As in " a murder of crows" or other terms is there a term for a group of yeti.....all I can find is...

Since it is very rare to see even a solitary Sasquatch I don't think there is a name for plurals. Like most primates though, they probably live in smaller family groups, which we call 'family'.
Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_a_group_of_sasquatch_called#ixzz1lroukc1b

Also as far as I can see two yeti are going to Castle combe......can we get enough there to make naming a group credible....the most so far at Combe was three, and it would be interesting to have a large flock/family etc.etc of them in one place

How about a storm of Yeti

Scottish Field

The March 2012 edition of the Scottish Field Magazine has a feature entitled "The greatest 4x4's of all time - 10 of the best" They do not make any comparisons between the 10 vehicles but just say nice things about each vehicle. The Yeti is in there and they say :-

On-Road handling that is close to the brilliance of a VW Golf GTI, matched by off-road capability that will surmount all but the most extreme hazards of a Scottish winter. And then add build-quality better than a Mercedes. What's not to like?

The Skoda Superb 4x4 is also included in the 10 and is described as the best car money can buy, best build quality, best finish, the most enjoyable driving dynamics and highest degree of comfort.

Quite an accolade for Skoda having two out of the 10 vehicles chosen.

Er - the Fiat Panda 4x4 is also included in the list.

My Mistake...Plus good RAC service

The Yeti wouldn't start today. Key wouldn't turn in the ignition. The headlights wouldn't come on and no horn.

Last week there seemed to be minor hiccup with the red battery light showing very temporarily when I thought it shouldn't have....so today when confronted with this I guessed there must be a problem.

Turns out I couldn't turn the key simply coz the steering lock was tight up against the end of it's travel and just needed releasing a tad to allow the key to turn. And, of course, no headlights or horn for obvious reasons which I overlooked in my minor absence of reason and common sense.

The earlier red battery light must have been another senior moment - albeit still unidentified - but is of no concern whatsoever.

So I felt a proper chump but the RAC man was a star and politely pacified me by saying how easy it was to do it...and other similar pleasantries as he tried to relieve my embarrassment.

First time I can remember doing that without the penny dropping straight away - but not today!

However the service centre staff on the Skoda Assist line was faultless...gave me a period of time in which to expect him (can't stand the expressions - 'window' or 'time frame' )...and the RAC patrol rang almost straight away to confirm attendance within 25 mins - which he stuck to.

In between times I called the dealer just to let him know and seek advice if the patrol couldn't get it going and he was also helpful and outlined what may have to happen. Grateful for that too.

Easy to crticize when things go wrong.. but not this time. Excellent service.

PS. In subsequent conversation with the patrol he said he'd been in the game as a mechanic and as a RAC patrol for 30 years..........and liked Renaults. Said they were no worse than most other makes, except Lexus, which he said were a cut above the rest (my words, not his). Surprised me as, for whatever reason, I'd have expected a breakdown man to have gained a different view. So maybe I was wrong on that one too????

Different Colour Roof?

We ordered our yeti at the start of October and were given a collection date of "mid Feb". Just checked with the dealer and we are still on-track but he can't give me an exact date yet

As the date is approaching, I have been spending hours looking at what we should have, could have and shouldn't have ordered but I'm sure we will be happy One thing I did notice is there wasn't much talk about the 'two tone' (different colour roof) colour selection on the forum, which we were offered. After checking the UK Skoda site, it seems it's not available in the UK which I found strange as I thought they are all made in the same place?

Perhaps Belgium is a trial to see if people actually order it? I don't think it works with all the colours but some it looks quite good. There is a deal at the moment with the 'Yeti Oxbow' which is white with a black roof: you can see here.

We went for the Mato brown (Muscovado in the UK) with magic black roof - can't wait to see what it will turn out like! Has anyone seen the two tone yeti 'in the flesh'?

Snow chains for 215/60 tyres DO exist!

Aha......... now I wonder if this will count as legal proper snow chain use in certain Alpine places? I just spotted these snow chains on the Superskoda website for 215/60 and 225/50 tyres:

http://www.superskod...6-and-17-wheels

But as we know there is not enough space to fit them to the front wheels so these are for the REAR wheels only......... which only normally get 2% of the power. Hmmm. But I guess if the going gets tough in snow, the front wheels will slip and the power will go to the back and voila you will get going. So a neat solution I'd say if you want to go to places with mandatory snow chain use (but want to have 215/60 winter tyres or only have summer tyres).

Do Dealers have to register your car within 10 days?

This follows on from an earlier thread I raised (about delivery time from the factory to the UK).
My car has now arrived in the UK and it will probably be with the dealer later this week. With the new registrations due to start in just over 3 weeks, I have again asked the dealer if he will be prepared to delay registering my car, but he refuses to do this. He says that Skoda UK insist that new cars ordered by customers - as opposed to cars for stock - are registered within 10 days of arriving at the dealership.
I find this very frustrating and wonder if anyone else has come up against this problem.
Incidentally, "excuses" such as being away till the beginnining of March, delays with funds, etc. will not make any difference!

Skoda Yeti 1.6 Tdi Severe Oil Leak at first service

Hi everyone,

Today I took my Skoda Yeti 1.6 Tdi for the first service at the local dealer (15,000km). A few hours ago they informed that there is severe oil leek below the engine cover (sorry I do not know much about mechanics and cannot be more specific). They ordered a replacement part for it and they are keeping the car for around a week (that's how long it takes for it to arrive). No warning lights, no change in performance at all. They simply spotted it on the garage.

Anyone had similar problems with the specific engine type? I will appreciate your input.

Thank you.

It's HERE!

Those of you who stop in on the "Bronze" Yeti thread will know that I now have mine - perhaps the first on the forum and one of the first in the UK...?

Anyway, I just wanted to get a few observations and things out whilst they're fresh in my mind.

1. Order times are a constant question - mine took basically 6 months from order to collection.

2. When I was arranging a day to collect it, I asked the dealer to put 'GB' number plates on it and to make a spare rear one; they don't do the GB plates by default and there's a good chance I'll take it abroad. Also, I have the towbar prep so the spare number plate will be useful for a lighting board, trailer or whatever I choose to tow.

3. Getting our kids' seats into the back was more effort than in any other car I have done it in - the ISOFix points are well hidden and I had to recline the rear seats to get them to go in and allow any decent legroom.

Overall though I am chuffed to bits - I'll be nosing through the manual later (I am a cover-to-cover manual reader I'm afraid) and then I'll be playing with all the buttons. I have already enabled auto un/locking and full unlock on first key press, as well as seeing that I can see the oil temp via the Maxidot and have messed about with lighting.

This is me, this is....

New YETI 4x4 DSG annoying noise and rattle

I know that there are already several topis on the diffrent noises and problems with the Yeti, but after reading them all I still haven't found out the reason behind the noise in my Yeti.

I have a brand new YETI 2.0 TDI DSG 4x4, which I picked up from the dealer at the end of December 2011. After only 900 km or 560 miles I got this annoying noise that comes out from the rear of the car. More precisely the noise is heard when pressing the accelerator and then let go and for now this happens only in 2nd and 3rd gear! I havent heard it in 4,5 or 6 gear. However sometimes the noise is made when I go in reverse. The car has already gone to the dealer's service and although they also heard the noise they couldn't find the reason and decided that it is normal. As there are very few DSG model in my city I have high expectations that somebody here has had a similar problem and has found the way to fix it! I have a feeling that the noise is connected to the DSG.

I love the YETI, but I can stand having something wrong with a brand new car!

Very much looking forward recieveing some expert advice on the above!

tyre options

My Yeti is a 170 CR TDI Elegance on 17" Spitzberg Alloys shod with Dunlop SP Sport 225/50 R17 94W from new. It is on a 59 plate, has covered 15,000 miles and is going to need new tyres soon. I have followed the discussion about the jiggly/harsh ride and agree that this is something I could do without. I have considered buying 16" steel or alloy rims and tyreing them with 55 or 60 profile rubber to overcome the problem. However I recently read on another forum that XL tyres have stiffened sidewalls and their reluctance to flex could be contributing to the unforgiving ride.
My questions are...would non XL tyres be up to the job and result in an improved ride without compromising handling and warranty. How would insurers and Skoda view this mod'? Has anyone tried this fix ? Lastly if I did go down this route what about Barum Bravuris tyres?
Any comments will be gratefully received.

Bye - for now!

I just wanted to say goodbye to all. I have found this forum fantastic and helpful with all things Yeti related. I am one of those people with itchy feet when it comes to cars and I am off to spend some time with a Golf bluemotion cabriolet.

I have had my Yeti almost 2 years and in that time only 2 faults. Radio/cd played up for half an hour then righted itself and like many blew the fuse on my headlamp cleaning system in last years freeze. In 12600 miles averaged 47-ish mpg. Other good news was that I was offered £16000 part ex towards a heavily discounted golf. I paid just over £18000 when new so I am a very happy man. Funny enough had three Skoda cars and never lost much on any of them ! My Yeti has been fantastic and I will miss it in many ways, but always wanted a cabrio and never had one before, so its a bucket list thing.

So thanks to all the good members of Briscoda and no doubt see you again in a year or two.

How fast will it decend etc etc add anything you think i will want to know. I think i may have been using it the other night but was just engine braking in 1st gear.
16 months Yeti delivery !

I have just been informed by the dealer with whom I placed an order for a 1.2 TSI DSG last April (2011), that despite having previously been given a build date for last week (w/c 30.1.12), Skoda have moved back all DSG orders to July 2012 meaning that the earliest date for delivery would be August 2012, some 16 months after placing the order.

This seems absurd to me and I have written to Skoda Customer Care for confirmation.

Is anyone else aware of this ?

I now have the 'option' of cancelling the order and getting my deposit back, or waiting another 6 months or so. A third option (of changing to a manual box version) has been offered but I cannot take this up as my wife is disabled and can only drive automatics.

If I hang on, would I be likely to get compensation ?

YETI - BAD SMELL

Driving a 1.8 litre petrol Yeti. 3 months old and 3.5k on clock. Getting bad smell in cabin - rotting cabbage or other similar organic like smell. First happened after 3 back-to-back practice runs using auto reverse parallel park steering feature. Noticed engine running at 103 degrees temperture - bit hotter than usual 97 degrees. Am now noticing it every now and then. Hard to pinpoint a pattern, but seems to be when engine running a bit hotter than average - say when in very slow traffic. Seems some other threads suggesting it could be clutch? I mentioned it to dealership and they suggested that it was normal for cars with cataytic converters to be smelly sometimes. I'm not sure about this? Any ideas?

4X4 in snow - ESP on or off !?

Can someone with good experience of driving a 4x4 Yeti for a while advise when its best to switch off the ESP button and when it isn't? No-one seems to be able to say definitively !

Background is that I've owned loads of 4x4 estates and a few modern SUVs including the 170 Yeti I have now. It seemed good in France but there wasn't that much snow around at the time.

The only problems I've ever had in snow have been:-
1)My 4x4 Octavia was a nightmare on rutted motorway snow with ESP on - switching it off made a huge difference.
2)Generally terrible braking on normal summer tyres, but at least with the Yeti I could stick on the off-road / hill descent a couple of times this year.

SO, in say 3 or 4 inches of snow (tomorrow morning !?) would you leave the ESP on or turn it off?

Spotted these on the French Forum; if the translate is correct, the Monster was running winter tyres without chains, while others were having to use them.

Article towards the bottom of this page; oh some good photos of two-tone Yetis before that.

What music are you currently playing in your yeti?

Whipped out my partners “Teach Yourself Welsh” CD today and put back in my David Bowie’s greatest hits CD.
Ah the 1970’s when stereo effects abound, vocals out one speaker, percussion out the other and SD meant something completely different!
“Ziggy played guitarrrr”

140 manual v 140 DSG v 170 v Qashqai 1.6 dci

After a long decision making process, I have finally made it!

I pondered over various competitors before narrowing it down to either a Yeti or (boo, hiss) a qashqai. I had heard good things about the new 1.6 dci in the Nissan so that was my first test of the weekend. Followed swiftly by a 170 Yeti, then a 140 DSG and, finally, a 140 manual. All 4x4's.

The qashqai felt like a good engine. Pulled nicely on the motorway without having to change down and was much more refined than I expected. But I wasn't sure about the interior. The gear box had quite a long throw and was a bit clunky. The handbrake was on the wrong side, next to the passenger seat, which drives me mad. And the quality of fit didn't feel up to yeti standards.

So, it was straight on to the yeti's. The 170 diesel was first. By comparison, the engine felt so smooth and quiet, mwith much more effortless performance. The gear change felt infinitely better. The look and feel of the interior felt a class above. The only aspect which I felt the Nissan bettered the Skoda was the seat comfort. Not that the Yeti sets are uncomfortable- far from it- but the Nissan had the squishiness factor just right. I know, it's a technical term. But that comfort was compromised on the move. The suspension felt too soft and I much preferred the slightly firmer ride of the yeti.

I was keen to try and find an ex-demo if possible, rather than sit out the huge waiting times. So I went to another dealer who had a 140 DSG available. I loved the drive, was very impressed by the DSG box which was very smooth-changing. But it didn't have satnav, which I really prefer built in. I inquired as to how much it would cost to retro fit a Columbus and was told £2800!!!!

I thought I was going to have to reconsider the qashqai.. .

Then I found another ex-demo which did have the Amundsen satnav and was a 140 4x4. I liked that car too. I had the same engine previously in a golf estate and I already know how good the vag diesels have become. Having driven the 3 different cars, I can honestly say that all the engines and transmissions felt excellent. I was about to do the deal on that one, when one of the other dealers rang me and told me he had a 170 elegance 4x4 with sunroof and satnav. it seems it was worthwhile hassling various dealerships after all!

And that was it. Deal done and collecting it next Wednesday. Delighted to be joining the ranks of Yeti owners at last, and I'm looking forward to discovering it's hidden delights as I go on.

All credit to the contributors in here, that helped make my mind up. Even when the Nissan dealer offered me a lot more for my car in part exchange!

The long wait is (almost) over. My Yeti has arrived at the dealers.

Ordered at the end of May so it's been 8 months plus a few days to appear.

Going to pay it a visit over the weekend ... then towbar and mudflaps to be fitted and plate to be transferred prior to collecting it on 1 March.

I thought the 4 months I waited for my current Octavia vRS was long .... little did I know.

Just for the record it's a 170 Elegance in Candy White, with sunroof, annapurnas, spare wheel, TPM and heated screen.

Sorry in advance everyone.

If the yeti is so good, why are there so many of them for sale second hand?

I am in the process of negotiating with her in doors and she is convinced they are not up to much. She loves the B-Class you see..... Even though its running costs are way more than a SIMULAR sized car. I need amo to back up my reasons for changing cars.

DVR and live lighter socket :(

Just bought a Prestigio Roadrunner DVR (on dash camera).
It has cool option to start REC at ignition on, and stop recording when ignition is off.
But seems that cig.lighter socket remains live all the time.

Cigarete adapter is rated at 5V@1A.

1. Is there any way to turn off 12V lighter socket in ignition off state?
2. Will it drain Yeti accu after few days of non-driving?

Mini Paceman

Various reporting has cited that the Mini Paceman would arrive in 2012.

Although I hate the Countryman, I quite like the Paceman. Perhaps because it looks like the Evoque (waist and windows).

If it starts just below 20 grand then it would be very interesting - a cut priced Evoque.

Not sure which one they are going to produce though?

Yeti door

Hi I have recently purchased a new Yeti. As soon as I drove it from garage I noticed wind noise from drivers door.
I followed the door seal with my finger while driving and as soon as my finger covered a certain area of seal the noise dissapeared, when my finger was removed the noise returned.I returned the Yeti to garage who kept it for two days finding nothing and said they would send a report skoda and see what they would come back with as this was standard practice. This is my second Yeti and had not this issue with the first one. Has any one else had this issue.

Maxidot oil temp

Picked up my new Yeti 1.4 end of December, only to find that the oil temp display was not reading on the way home. It was booked in for the next week for a new sensor to be fitted and I had the loan of their Yeti demo. The sensor didn't change things and they ordered a new display pack. This was fitted today.

In the meantime I noted that there has already been a thread on this subject, with a split as to whether it worked on both service schedules or just the variable. I was called this afternoon to say that the new pack had not cured the problem, but they had found that it did work with the variable service, but not with the t&d setting which mine was set to. They also said that it would not work with the t&d schedule as the sensor which monitors oil condition also measures the temp, and without the variable setting the temp would not show.

It would appear that having had sensor and display changed the above must be true, at least for my car, which was manufactured Oct 2011.

I have had it set to variable service but will change oil annually.

Looking across the market for what is on offer against a 1.2TSi DSG SE Yeti come change time.

TOYOTA...Cant see anything remotely comparable...VERSO?? no auto avail..
NISSAN...CASHCOW ONLY DIESEL AUTO AT AROUND £27.5K...
HONDA ..All not enough headroom for a 6 footed... Jazz too small...Over styled...
VAUXHALL enough said.
FORD.. Maybe C MAX but poor reliability reviews.. KUGA £31.5K for petrol 2.5 Auto. Rubbish local dealer.
KIA/HYUNDAI Good SPORTAGE/i35 but resale values..reliability / build quality issues..dealer reported as
using a piece of wood to fix a common door alignment issue.
VW Touran Boxy overpriced Yeti if slightly bigger.

Looks like a Yeti 1.2 DSG possibly Elegance spec then (would love it to have 100mm longer boot)...

unless you know different!!
