Stream CD changer in Octy 1?

Hi all, long time no see.

Just bought an Octavia 2 1.9tdi, much better than superb classic 2ltr petrol engine.

Anyway does anyone know if the 6 cd changer din style connected to the stream audio system will fit in an old Octavia mk1 (my father in laws), using the Skoda audio 201 cassette system? Recently tried a VW single dash cd and this did not work? It says CD changer compatible on the front?

Thanks

Ipod Touch 3rd gen and MDI

Hi everyone, I am planning to buy a new Octavia VRS on Monday, and I want to find out whether the MDI/standard headunit is compatible with the Ipod Touch 3rd gen. I have found that just about every Ipod accessory does not actually work fully with the 3rd gen, even ones that say they work with the 2nd gen. This is obviously great, and has meant I have had to get new chargers and cables and things, but I don't want to shell out a fair few sheets for MDI and find it doesn't allow the control properly, or more likely doesn't charge the ipod. I know the 3rd gen is pretty new, think was only released in Sept 2009 in UK, and car mfrs tend to lag behind in support for even vaguely current mobile devices. Still at least BT works with my BB pearl Thanks in advance

Daft Octavia ISO/Quadlock Question

Daft question I know but having searched the forums I can't seem to find a clear answer...

2007 Octavia vRS with Stream MP3 HU fitted. Finally decided I will fit a Parrot HF kit to the car but not sure if I need a harness adaptor or whether the 2no ISO connectors and the CD changer blocks are removable from the quadlock connector or not? Pictures I have seen haven't really helped either... Clearly if these are removeable I can plug the ISOs straight into the Parrot harness and the CD changer block straight into the Stream. Something tells me it won't be that easy....

Help much appreciated !

If I need an adaptor any recommendations welcomed. I see e-bay is full of such things, some even mentioning Parrot but I know that just because you can buy one doesn't mean you need one

Installation of Speaker Cable Through Fabia Doors

I thought I would post a copy of a thread I posted on another forum as it has proved of use to others doing a Fabia/Polo/Ibiza installs

Stage 1:

Strip out the lower parts of the dash for both the drivers and passengers sides of the car, this generally involves the glovebox for the passenger side

Stage 2:

Open the door, inside the door jam you will see a rubber boot connecting between the door and the car.

Stage 3:

Remove the rubber boot on the car side (easiest to push the boot away to release the two clips closest and then pull towards to release the other two). This should expose a number of cloloured blocks and connectors.

Stage 4:

Remove all the connection blocks, this is done by pressing a clip on the edge of each of the individual blocks. Once complete the rubber boot with cables can be moved away.

Stage 5:

You are now left with a block in the door holding a number of coloured connectors, on the top and bottom of this block there are a couple of location clips, release these to bring the block into the door jam (you may need to adjust the door jam to get the block out)

Stage 6:

Now the block is out you can remove the smaller coloured blocks from the larger holding block, this is done through releasing the clips either side of the coloured blocks (note you will need a thin piece of metal or a small screw driver to remove the middle blocks.

Stage 7:

Once all the blocks have been removed, you can then feed the cable with ease into the door from inside the car.

Stage 8:

Once complete remake all connections and poke all the blocks back into the into the car (keep the large retaining block don't re-install). Then clip the boot back into place. Note: the boot has a lip that protects the cables against the metal edge and hence damage.

Stage 9:

Admire your work:

Best insurance for modded 1.8T?

It's that time of year again when I have to go through the, frankly, soul-destroying process of ringing around for quotes and this year I thought I'd give the other Briskoda insurance partners a go. I wish I hadn't bothered…

After waiting for 20 minutes on the phone to Sky Insurance, the lovely lady (and she was lovely, that's not sarcasm ) came back and told me they couldn't get a quote anywhere near the one I've been given from Adrian Flux. Oh well, on to the next one…

Chris Knott only took 5 minutes to say they couldn't (wouldn't?) even get a quote for a car parked on the road with my mods, which are pretty minimal really. Which underwriter do they use? Highway.

"That's strange," I said, "I've been insured with Highway with these mods and at this address for the last year, and I've just been given another competitive quote by them through Adrian Flux for next year?"
"Sorry, they won't touch your car," she said.

So what's that all about then? Does anyone have any other suggestions for mod-friendly insurers?

Thanks

Lets go oldschool ...

Hello guys

i recently bought a Skoda Fabia vRS (2005) for the girlfriend who is going to move in with me and as a result will have to drive further to her work.
Add the moment she drives a 2002 Fiat Punto with an original Blaupunkt radio with cassette. At the time I bought her a mp3 player she was able to connect via a special cassette which transfers the sound from the mp3 player to the radio. She is really fond of it somehow.
In the Fabia an aftermarket Pioneer DEH-4700MP (CD/MP3) is installed. She really likes the car, but would prefer a built in radio for a more elegant/ original look and a casette player to be able to play here mp3. She really doesn't like cds laying around in the car (looks messy).

I did some research , found some usefull info in the Fabia I part of the forum and found the MS 402 , specs can be found on the following link : Official link MS402

While searching on Ebay.de it also found a Grundig cassette player that was available for the fabia at a certain time.
Picture

Link of the radio on Ebay : Skoda Radio/cassette

Any other models that can be installed? Maybe more recent radio's (altough i would think everything is equipped with cd nowadays).
I can imagine the real ICE fans get the shiffers when hearing "Cassette" so if there are alternative ways of getting the mp3 player/SD card/ USB stick to work with an original Skoda fabia CD player (which looks a bit more up to date to me), let me know what the options are. I'm a bit of a noob i confess..

Anyway, thanks in advance for the responds and i apoligize for my english.

Regards

I updated. It was smooth. Burned with ImgBurn v2.5.0.0 with 1x speed DVD+R. The functionality of the streering wheel and TV tuner are Ok. RNS 510 sees and displays proparely climatronic and parking sensors. The MP3 files remained. Though I lost my Navi maps v6 with BMW 2010_01. I tried to reinstall custom buikt NAVI maps, the RNS refused to see the DVD. I will try again later.

After market sat nav/bluetooth DVD etc

Hi,

I posted this elswehere and was advised to put it in here.

I've been looking on ebay and have found an after market sat nav unit with bluetooth/DVD etc which appears to slot into the current radio/cd unit 'hole'. For £360 inc delivery (from Greece) it looks to good to be true!

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I have a few questions and would be grateful if anyone could answer them:

1) does the current Bolero unit come out and this sat nav unit slide it?

2) Does the bluetooth facility allow for complete handsfree use - assuming phone is compatible? If it does does anyone know what the quality is like - is the microphone built into the sat nav unit?

3) Would the bluetooth unit work with my maxidot - I will have maxidot but no multi function steering wheel when my new car is finally built!!

4) Has anyone bought one of these or similar - this seller has 0 feedback for selling, all their feedback is from buying!!

I was only looking for a bluetooth kit (fiscon or similar) but found this cheaper with a built in sat nav!! Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Is it possible to get the Maxidot to display incoming call numbers only while the call is active? The Bolero does display incoming call info.
But I had a few questions first...

How do you control the ipod, can it only be controlled by the Dance radio, or can the controls for the maxidot screen be used?
Also how easy is it to use?
And can I fit it myself or is it a dealer job?

RNS510 Sat Nav

Hi folks,

Just a quick question on a retro fit of an RNS510 Sat Nav unit.

I have a Skoda Octavia 'Elegance' Estate, on a 58 plate.

With the car when it was speced, it came with the reverse parking sensors as an optional extra.

It also has fitted as standard the Skoda mp3 stereo with the Skoda cd changer in the boot.

My question is:

Q - When I select reverse an outline picture of a car comes up on the display of the stereo along with the proximaty beeps.

If I was to fit an RNS510 Sat Nav unit, would these parking sensors still be compatible? The picture of the car on the stereo display I could live without, but

would I lose the beeps?

Also, would the cd changer be compatible?

Feedback would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi guys, was browsing Youtube last night and came across a couple of videos that appeared to show how easy it was for the latest units to have the vehicle in motion safety feature disabled. Personally I dont think its a great idea but thats my opinion. My question was; has anyone actually tried it as Im not convinced VAG would makes it this easy!

I wont link to the videos but they showed someone simply pressing the 'i' (top right) botton followed by the 'tone' button. The unit made the chime sound and the TV suddenly started displaying whist they were driving along

So is the system really that easily defeated? Curiosity got the better of me so I had to ask!

Hi,

I have an 02 VRS - standard radio- i need a radio/cd that allows me to make hands free calls and hear the caller on the speakers of the radio- can anyone recommend a product/system that will fit the bill for £150 ish- model number and distributor for the product.

Q1. Will it be comaptable with the current 6 cd changer in the boot?
Q2. does it require any fancy wiring or will it just plug in with an adapter lead/socket thingy?

Thanks folks

Columbus / GPS position lag

Could not find something similar so I starting a new topic!

Yesterday I observed that the GPS with v6 maps is almost 100 meters behind the actual spot I am.
At a straight street I am at intersection B and on the navi I am at intersection A 100 meters back.
Although the voice guidance seems to be correct as where to turn.
As I turn the car icon on the Navi quickly changes to the correct spot but then again falls behind.
Also lovely lady in the Navi told me to turn left on a straight road and where there no left turns on the route.

Tired it many times with the GPS info on the screen to make sure that it was happening with 2D and 3D fix, even with 8 satellites connected its still off.

Check your Renewal Notice Carefully.

I've recently recieved my renewal notice for the vrs. At first I thought great! £10 cheaper than last year but looking at the policy details carefully they have changed the Policy excess to a higher amount, from £200 to £600. Talking about this with my workmates and some of them checked their policies and found their policies had the same kind of increases. So be aware fellow Briskodians.
Thought I have a shop around the brokers and compare sites as well and cheapest quote is Saga, beats all the others by £60. 50 plusers are GO!

Upgrading An OctyII Estate (Single Din)

Hi. I'm tired of faffing about with the aux cable and charger for my ipod and want to go back to my Alpine ida-x001 that i had in my old car. It will be the 1st time i've replaced a single din in a double din space - any advice/does it need a particular cage? Which tools are required to remove head unit? Feel free to post some pics of single din conversions, most of the search results had missing photos. I presume i can get a pocket from skoda for the gap created by the missing din.
Also how easy are the speakers to change? Is it a case of removing the door card? Anything to watch out for? What speakers would you recommend?
Finally as a long shot has anyone got any pics of a sub install where the cd autochanger normally lives? I'm toying with the idea of an amp and sub, but need the boot space for mountain bikes, so i've been told about this option.
Sorry for all the questions, cheers for any help
