the Combi was 1 owner from new too (35 years!) My Green TDI Octy is my longest serving vehicle at 3.5 years, although I've done 95k in that time. As for "Goyle" parts, there's a handful of people on here understand my username. The last parts we picked up needed an 80t crane, that cost over £2k per day to hire! Big boy's toys!! Yes the blue one has the cute factor, but I'm smitten with the combi too.

| I see the Combi comes complete with a Feu Orange air freshener. My Grandad used to have those in all his cars, a Riley 1.5, Vanden Plas 1300 and Austin 1100. Do they still make them? It's a very distinctive smell, Feu Orange, Balkan Sobranie pipe tobacco and Austin upholstery. Those were the days. Graham |

It definitely smells like an old car though. Austin 1100, hmm, John Cleese in Clockwise springs to mind?

| Yes I inherited the 1100 when he gave up driving, it was a luxury replacement for my Triumph Herald (which was fitted with a spitfire 1200 twin carb engine). I used to beat the 1100 regularly with a stick though, worst car I have ever driven, and I have driven some awful cars in my time. Graham |

Talking of classic BL stuff ... I remember my dad's Marina being in for repairs, he was given a Maxi as a courtesy car. He couldn't seem to find any gears connected to the gear stick. Bear in mind he was a trucker, used to a choice of 16 gears, he'd expected to find some of the 4 on offer! To paraphrase ... Vorsprung durch Czechnik, if only everything in life was reliable as a Skoda!

| He was complaining of a stiff neck, as he had to drive it everywhere in reverse! Oh yes, according to Wikipedia, the car in Clockwise was a Morris 1100, whereas the infamous "beating with a stick" was an Austin 1300. Somone told me there's an old Octy in "On the buses" I'll have to keep my eyes peeled, although there's 74 episodes!!!!

| Yes JC had an 1100 in fawlty Towrs, however the film clockwise, which he also starred in features an austin 1100 throughtout the entire field and many scenes take place either in the front of the 1100 or outside it with the 100 in the shot. It is a fabulous film and contains some great shots of period traffic. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockwise_(film) Clockwise stars a Morris 1100 and Fawlty Towers stars an Austin 1300. | Ooo, that is nice to see. ![]() I have sat in one of those old Skoda Octavias at the Skoda graveyard in Bridgwater. Wouldn't be a bad place to go and salvage some parts. Also they have a turbo charged Estelle (I think that is what it was) Not OTR unfortunately but still interesting to see the history

| Guys, all I meant was that, when I think of John giving an Austin/Morris 1100/1300 a "d@mned good thrashing" with a small tree, I think of the "Gourmet Night" episode of Fawlty Towers, rather than of Clockwise. |

| I've heard people from the owners club refer to this semi mythical place Apparantly it was a franchised main dealer back in good old days. Any older car that came in as a trade in, simply got stored around the back Some cars have been there over 20 years. I seem to recall that despite offers, the owner simply won't sell anything. I'm in that area next week, so I'd like to have a scout around myself.

| I heard exactly the same thing Darren, sad really, especially as there's meant to be 3 S110R's in there, 1 of them being a Pickup conversion

| gcr31463 mentions about an old Octy in "On the Buses". The three films made for cinema were shown on Bank Holiday Monday and in Mutiny on the Buses there is one passing Stan's bus as he goes to Windsor Safari park. |

| Beautiful cars, and the Super Saloon is just lovely. But No. No no no. They do not resemble a Volvo PV 544, not even a tiny bit: 1960_PV544.JPG The 1960 Simca Aronde on the other hand: 1960SimcaAronde.JPG |
