Ok maybe I was a bit hasty on not likeing skodas anymore. I would really still like to be a part of the group but I just feel very beaten down. I had no idea there was anything wrong with the suspension as it had given me no problems, maybe sitting on the drive took its toll. I have obviously made a bad mistake with the suspension and to be fair it didn't look quite that bad when I had only just done it. But when I bought the car the shocks had been welded to the wishbone and snapped off within a week. Compared to that my bodge looked beefy! I would really like to lend a hand and see my skoda looking as it should. Apologies to Skoda932byVW for the hassle caused. I hope we can put this behind us. By the way, I took the whole front suspension and steering rack of in one go a couple of days ago. It was very simple and took about an hour and a half. Also I have loads of skoda bits for sale, doors, windows, seals, carpets, seats, etc.

Went to start it this morning and the engine is seized. Oils sump plug is cross threaded and leaking everywhere. Hence no oil in my sump.Where it was parked I couldnt see the oil slick it had left. So now its dead, needing new brakes, engine and supspension. I am really peeved off with it as it cant even move now. Biggest waste of money ive ever owned. ![]() If anyone wants any bits off it before the end of the month let me know (tax runs out in less than a week). Really peeved off. Will phone up the scrapiies unless anyone is interested in a "project"

How badly seized is the engine? After only a few days I can't believe there's more than superficial rust in the bores. Have you tried a long spanner on the crankshaft pulley nut to turn it? (You'll need a 30 or 32mm socket, IIRC.) As for the sump, I've got one you can have, currently attached to an old 120 lump that's been taking up space in my flat for about 8 years and is never going to run - I've been trying to give the whole thing, or bits, away for a while!

I know you don't have a lot of trust in me right now but I have another engine you can have for free. It needs a new head gasket and a couple of studs replacing but it ran fine until the gasket went.

Hi all, I agree with rigsby, sounds like engine waterlocked, remove all sparkplugs then turnover,if so headgasket leaking.I think the clue is in the red Ebay post of 5/03/08,"oil is contaminated" alive but "misfire. Surely nothing Dave cant sort.

I've a nasty feeling in this case, that the hydrauliced diagnosis is correct, but also that the liners may have shifted.

Sorry all, Ive not updated for a while. Well ive been very lucky and have coming a car with a lot of sentimental value to me. Its a Skoda Rapid 1300 Turbo. Ive known the car for a few years and was local, but has moved away. The headgasket has failed in it so I have decided to bring it back home. As such I had a dilema with the Estelle which i just dont have room for. I had 3 options. 1. Relist it back on e-bay as is and let someone else get lumbered with it. 2. Relist it back on e-bay accurately and the car will risk going for banger racing, weighing in or to be cut up 3. Throw loads of money and time at it and then relist it with the problems rectified. I chose 3 . Ok ive lost a lot of money on it now, but at least the car will survive to live another day.Ive just spent the whole weekend on it. The bodywork has been sorted. A few rust spots have been removed and resprayed, the tyres replaced, the engine stripped down and rebuilt again (it was hydrolocked, but after carefull checking no damage has been done and after honing the liners slightly the car runs better than ever) I couldnt get the wishbones in time so the front suspension was redone by me. I used the same design as the previous owner, but used far thicker metal. Still not perfect in my book, but safe now and the e-bay ad will mention this as not to deceive as I genuinly feel it ideally needs new wishbones. The brakes are all thats left now and then its MOT time. Once thats got it will be ready for E-bay without fear of it going to a bad home ![]()
