Vibration and steering pulls

hello, i have 2 problems one is when breaking the car vibrates like mad have fitted new break pads and got new tyres discs look fine too, the 2nd one is if i let go of the stearing wheel it pulls streight to the left as soon as i let go no ones been able to work out why i asked at the mot and they said its not the stearing rack had new whishbones,driveshafts and track rod ends aswell have looked after the car its had an easy life, thanks for any help

Have the garage checked the disc run-out? A runout that you can't actually see would be enough to cause this.

Was it induced by the new tyres? If so, try putting them on the back and see if it changes character or goes away. If it does, then you've got a warped wheel or tyre.

I would swap the front wheels left to right and see if the car then pulls the other way.

Do the brakes judder through the steering wheel as well as the pedal? If not, it could be the rear brakes. Try gradually applying the handbrake and see if that makes the brakes judder, if so you'll know it's the rear brakes.

Brake judder is most commonly caused by front disc problems, either because they are warped or because they have been fitted to a hub flange that wasn't clean.

dont use a garage do all work myself and after a lot of hunting the back drums are warped another thing alot of people have told me its possible to put a vw 1.6 1v engine in to the fav wondering if this is true and what other parts i would need

The VW 1.6 from a Felicia would be a straight drop in I imagine from what I have read, appart from the flywheel/clutch or whatever it is.

the 1.6 has different engine mounts (located in different areas of the engine bay) and a few other things!

It wouldn't be a hard job, but i dn't think it would be a 'straight' swap!

nothing like a good challeng tho is there lol is there a certain year engine i would need ? thanks for the help its nice not to hear its only a skoda buy a better car

If you want to go down the 1.6 route, it rould be best to get a complete felly and swop the engine,gearbox, and suspension as a whole lump. Not forgetting you will need complete wiring loom and fusebox

A chap i know has put a 2ltr 16valve vauxhall 'redtop' into his felcia rally car! bearing in mind, the 2ltr 16v vauxhall lump has almost 150 bhp in standard trim and can be had (in or out of a car) for a few hunderd pounds, that would be a much better option!

plus apparently fiesta xr2 front suspenion fits the fav/felica so you could mate up the vaux lump and box and drive shafts with xr2 front suspention (and suitable bearings) for a small lump of cash and have a nice fast little car!

nice thort the 2.0 redtop but had a very bad experience with them been trying to find one for a calebra and thats been inposible lol

you could get an old vectra or cav with the 2ltr 16v engine for a few hundred pounds!
