Talking A Big Thanks From Mr Funky

Just wanted to say a message of thanks for all those who came to my humble meet today!!

It was great to see so many new faces and meet you all

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was most suitably entertained both in and out of car by Des and Jon about track tales and also by practical demos of awesome power (whoa I gotta get me a Jabba!)

The award for baddest exhaust of the century must go to Graham. That is a bad boy special, must admit I look at Fabia's with new eyes after seeing those that turned up today!!:drive1:

So many thanks to you all, as you guys (and gals) made it a very special day for me

I look forward to seeing you all again.

Cheers

Andre - was a great day out - nice to see some (slightly) familiar faces and many new ones. Jason - where did you go? Sorry you missed out on a go in an Octy. Jon - many thanks for letting me take yours for a spin.

When's the next one?

Edited to say: a) that bit of dual carriageway from the Malt Shovel to Balsall Common has always been one of my faves

b) Many thanks to Graham (bandit1) for the advice on car kits.

Thumbs up A big thanks to Funkyjutel!!

First off Funky, thanks for sorting out such a good meet. Was good fun meeting all that came along and putting faces to names.

TaviaRS - Those brakes really are awesome! I cannot believe that just a change of discs and pads could make so much difference and those anthracite wheels just looked gorgeous. I know where my money is going next!

Had some fun on the way home. Embarrased a guy in a 206 infront of his bird and a guy with his mate in an XR3i!! Not quite the same as a Scooby or Evo, but I gotta make do with smaller pickings in my little'un!! :p

I thought it was ****e!

Actually, I'm lieing! A thoroughly pleasant way to spend a day. Graham, glad you liked my brakes, you should feel them when they are used in a serious way, believe me they are even better Oh and thanks for the kind words about my horrible grey wheels. Des, get 'em sorted. Nice power delivery, may consider getting mine done, along with "project X"

Nice to see so many "old" faces and some new ones. Jason, where did you go? Andre, you sure you need that sub? I may be able to make room in mine for it if you decide you don't want it... I need more bass!

Any, thank you for a good day, lets do it again soon

Sorry for going. I fancied hanging around to get a ride, (or a go?) in one of the beasts there, but in the end I was totally sh*gged from last night and I'm surprised I'm still awake now *yawn!
I also didn't know if everyone was just going for a drive, and I knew my tractor would never have been able to keep up with a 140mph stint down a dual carriageway (although I did an average 100 along the M69 back to Leic, and got a funny look from an Asian driving a 3 series )

I'll make sure I get a better nights sleep next time....

Also, once I've doctored the reg's in the piccies, I'll post some them. I only got about six shots in all, but I'll see if one of them was a cracker!

Thanks Funky, for the organisational skills. DAMN good food, but I was hoping someone from the Malt Shovel would be outside when we all f*cked off! That would have been good to see!

My #1 mission now is to save up for Oulton Park. I feel that's gonna be an expensive couple of days and one hell of a journey from down 'ere. ooo-arrr!

Cheers

Mr. Jutel

Once again a big THANK YOU m8.
Sorry Manny if I concerned you with my ever so dodgy driving.
Apologies to Jon for the speck of dust he came into contact with from my engine bay, must have missed that one.
I hope no one copies my natty dash mods to closely.
Last but not least thanks to every one for making it a memorable meet.

Cheers Des

Glad to here everyone got home OK . Thanks to Andre for organising the "do " and nice to see everybody and put faces to names

Manny , I hope you have recovered from your ride - I'd sack your chauffeur if I were you Jason , we didn't realise you were going till you were gone , if you know what I mean , we did come back , as fast as we could

Hope to see you all at the next one

PS don't bother with Turtle Wax bug and tar remover , it gets everywhere

Thanks Funky, great day,

Low light following the WRC following the red Octavia back to Wales - thought to my self where have the others gone they just vanished - and left us Jabba'd - Lukily had mob no to call so caught up.

Mellow - you should have bought the turtle wax wipes not spray - auto glym bumper black is good at removing bug and tar remover you need now make sure you dont get any on the paintwork or you will go round in circles

Jon, Any idea who you leant your Wax to I think it was the same person who borrowed your PMR

Des - Wonder how may speeding tickets you picked up whilst you were standng in the pub carpark - we will all vouch for you.

Excellent Fabia turnout good and Im sure you could have kept up with at least me - the Octavia 1.6 8v did really well.

Yet another succesfull meet. The weather was even kind to us despite the forcast. Excellent food at the Bulls Head was far better then the previous meet we had there at the malt shovel.

I took a few pics and have posted them Here

Thanks Mr Funky for organsing, and Des for taking me out in his Jabba'd RS.

Replying to my own post, I took a pic of TaviaRS and Delcac. Look at the people in the Ford Escort in the background, I wonder what they were thinking

Thanks, Mr Jutel, great day out, and nice to put names to faces. Also nice to see Jon's 1.4 16v - goes fast for a 1.4, doesn't it?

Apologies to anyone who followed me as I peeled off from the convoy to go home - Looked in my mirror, saw some RSs still behind me, thought "Uh, oh!"

Been pondering whether or not to get a 4X4 or RS next time. Seeing some of the cars yesterday has made the choice a bit easier.

(thinks... wonder if anyone tunes cars with slush boxes....)

Thanks to Funky J for organising this. I won't pretend I know all your names and cars, but it is good to see some faces behind the names. Sorry I left so early, but after I just woken up, I think I needed some sleep

Shame I missed the opportunity to ride in a jabba'd vRS, but on the other hand, it would only make the suffering more and longer

Q

Oh, and TaviaRS, I don't suppose you wanna swap those alloys for mine ? If only I had seen them 2 weeks ago

Er yep I too got caught out following Mike, by the time I had gone to the next roundabout & cut across back to the dual Carriageway.

"No Sign" of anyone.

Never mind, I went for my own "Exclusive" drive around the North Staffs & Derbyshire Moorlands & home via Buxton.

(For "Exclusive" Read "Billy No-Mates !!")

Thanks Funky for a great Day Out.

Good to put a few names to faces .

See you all at the next one.

With hindsight, I probably should've turned off the A/C and
fridge...

Andre,

Apologies for not making it, we were meant to be walking then I got up late and didn't finish my fencing project on Saturday so ended up doing that for about 45 minutes on Sunday before necking some pills for my back again; grr. So in hindsight should of gone!

Looks like you all had a good munch and potter around the countryside. Thanks for arranging the meet again, see you all soon at another venue...

I've sacked myself! - I should have asked someone if they were coming back to the pub, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I'll make sure I hang around longer at the next one, whether its Nottingham or Oulton Park

Sorry you missed out Jason - it just became a mad scramble to get into a car so as not to get left behind. You were putting things away in the boot when the scramble started - in hindsight I should have asked if you wanted a lift...
