GTI International 2008 - 21st & 22nd June

I am delighted to tell you that the sale of advance tickets for GTI International is higher than last year, we have more traders and exhibitors, and we have more individuals selling autojumble.

With the best part of 1,000 club members having booked in advance, it has been something of a nightmare to allocated suitably sized plots to each group, but we reckon that we have been able to devise a jigsaw pattern which will work! Virtually all the plots are on grass.

We are hoping for good weather, but you never know. We tested the grassed surfaces on Tuesday and the ground beneath is as hard as concrete. Even if it does rain, we don’t think that there will be the problems which occurred last year.

There are no more hard-surfaced area available within a reasonable distance of the centre of activities and, if it rains so heavily that the ground becomes too soft (we think that this is unlikely) we will not be able to allocate individual club plots on hard standing.

We would suggest that, if there is consistent rain before the event, you try to arrange for all your members to arrive at the same time so that they can park together in the main car park. The car park marshals will not be able to leave sections of the car park free for particular clubs and this is the only way in which we feel you would be able to park together.

Hopefully, none of this will be necessary and, unless we have torrential rain, you should all be able to park on the grass areas which have been allocated and marked out.

If rain is that bad, I may well put my alloys back on the back tonight once I'm back in the Midlands so my car is setup for "show" as opposed to "go" - Then try the full slicks on the sunday.

The weather coming in from the Atlantic at the moment is not nice, but fingers crossed.

I have a f'in big titleist golf brolley so forgive my "I'm alright Jack" scoffing.

Gonna leave soon for Brunters. Weather for sunday is now much better according to the met office - sunshine all day, but a bit windy. I think I will be saving my slick tyres for then.

In Leicester now and the weather is pretty wet. Lets hope it dries for tomorrow however I fear the damage will already be done in terms of the grass.

Thankfully (having got back) the grass is very solid indeed. I think last year the ground was saturated from weeks of rain leading up to Inters, but this year it has been dry. I was actually able to jack the car up on the grass it was that bone dry underneath (still got wet feet from the water hanging on the grass though during the rain - It's quite long in places)

Should be dry tomorrow. Forecast is still good.

Some sprints were done. Mainly by sibart - Did a 16.2 and a 15.8 while I was watching. There is easily a sub 15 in there as his traction was shocking in the damp!

Had another go in the afternoon while it was not so wet, managed 15.4.
Bloody hard getting power down thou still, possibly driver at fault

Skoda winner was that JBS octy MK1, quoted at 602 BHP

I've just spent the day cleaning in amongst the rain showers. Took all the wheels off for a good clean and find 3 tyres have punctures

Luckily 2 are repairable but they'll be no sprinting for me tomorrow

They didnt give winning times out. Did see him do a 14.8 thou.Hope weather is better cause my feet are bloody soaked, like Jase said the grass is long so bring suitable footwear people

I'm hoping the sun will dry off the top of the grass, so should be no damp issues.

Thankfully I'm sat watching the TV in front of a log fire and a load of my clothes including the socks from today have been washed and tumble dried (along with my trainers )

Having to wring your socks out is not pleasant. I'm bringing spare socks tomorrow just in case....

So much for Saturday's weather being good! It was a bit wet and miserable at Brunters! Show and Shine wasn't anywhere near as big as last year. Fingers crossed that the weather improves for tomorrow for everyone thats going.
