| Seeing as I can't add public events to the calendar ![]() A gentle drive through mid-Wales to assess suitable roads for the meets in July and September. Anyone welcome, but bear in mind it may be a bit stop start as we'll be making notes as we go (eg cautions for nasty crests which may take the sump off your pride and joy). I imagine we'll start about 9am, longest rooute so far is just under 200 miles, shortest is about 140.

| OK, I have come up with what looks like a nice route on paper (well I actually have 1 main and 3 variants off it) Trouble is I keep spotting old favorites and modifying the route to include them, damn I hate OS maps, so many memories ![]() The route starts and finishes at the same place. It includes about 50 miles of A roads, 80 miles B roads, and about 30-40 miles of C/unclassifieds. These are all over 4m wide according to the OS and there is only 1 stretch of B road (about 2 - 3 miles) which is narrow(passing places). The route includes quite a few twisty bits, some slightly faster bits, plenty of photo stops if thats your thing oh and the odd hairpin . There are also a number of pubs along the route and several ice cream van stops. So far I've counted 3 Shell stations either on or just off the route. Just need to check Optimax availability.I have programmed the route into the sat-nav and it looks pretty good (even though it doesn't know about the forest drive through Dyfi forest ![]() As I said before, it may be a bit disjointed as we need to get the junction tulips right to make it easier for the real thing. I reckon it'll take about 4 hours to drive the route, + a lunch stop (and possibly an ice-cream call or 2!). Any takers let either myself or Colin know and we'll send you the start location

| That's what the little arrow diagrams of junctions are called. No idea as to the history of them, but would hazard a guess that it was developed by one of clog wearing breathren or possibly because they look like tulips.

| <anorak mode on> Legend has it they were originally used on the Tulip Rally in Holland... so RS is correct! <anorak mode off>
