Default UK Road Trip - which route?

Yet another poll - there are a lot of conflicting ideas on the main thread... just wondered which format people would find better.

Option 2 - Three Day Trip ("Brisky Mainland Tour '08")

Route - John O' Groats to Lands End to Dover to John O' Groats

Distance - 2000 Miles

Time - about 40 hours or three days spread out

Option 3 - Five Day Trip ("Brisky UK Tour")

Route - John O' Groats to Wales to Northen Island to ROI to Lands End to Dover to John O'Groats

Distance - Don't even want to calculate it

You need to brush up on your Geography Robbo

You ain't gonna get from Wales to Northern Ireland, unless you go via one of England, Scotland, or the Republic.

Best option would be Scotland to NI, then either back from Dublin to Holyhead (North Wales), or for more driving in Ireland, down to Rosslare and over to South Wales.

I think you're right about the charity run though. Would probably be the easiest to organise and the easiest for people to commit to. Could maybe do one of the longer ones if JoG->LE is a success.

Good on you for putting yourself forward to organise everything

IMHO I think for ease it would be best to just do the JOG to LE one.

I still think you need to give more time for the driving. How are you going to enjoy it if it's going to be constant driving and nothing else? I suggest you make a few days of it whatever option you choose, but then I'm not doing it so do what you want

am up for the JOG -> LE spead over a couple of days. Though being where I am located, its could be a mission to drive all the way to JOG, then to LE, then back to Norfolk

Would join you for a bit if it was coming to the south west, but for me, a long roadtrip is only good when going abroad.

I think you will get far more people just doing the JOG to LE over two days, gives most people a chance to join in ....and doing it for a reason (charity)

If you were coming from NI to ROI, the two options to go back to UK would be,

Dublin Port OR Dun Laoghaire (either ends of Dublin City) to Holyhead

OR

Rosslare (Wexford) to Fishgaurd OR Pembroke

From AA

From: Belfast,Antrim

To: Rosslare,Wexford

Distance: 206.5 miles

Time: 3 hr 38 min

From: Belfast,Antrim

To: Dublin,Dublin

Distance: 104.5 miles

Time: 1 hr 57 min

Why bother going to Lands End for any but the simple JOG to LE trip?

The stretch from Exeter to L.E. is pretty pointless given the lack of Briskodians in that area and there is pretty much only one route (unless you fancy very slow progress)

L.E. is a dump too.

You could ditch some miles in Scotland too by only going up towards Dundee ish.
