First two services were £170 ish each, but then they started to creep up to £220. Timing belt one at 60K cost £465. Service at 70k cost over £400. Just after to 60k mark the wipers seized (great maintenance..) and I have corrosion problems with arial and bonnet catch. They never cleaned the car but always supplied a courtesy car without too much notice. |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh Great dealership. I've now bought 3 cars from here. Previous Octavia, wife's Farbia anf now my latest Octy. Dealt with George every time and he's a good guy to work with. Servicing has always been spot-on. Only blip was when we test drove a car before buying the latest octy. I was looking to buy a DSG as I wanted something that was smooth to drive and good in traffic, I have been having back trouble and using the clutch was murder. Test driver (Mike?) seemed to think wanted a sports car and was chucking it about on country roads and encouraging me to do the same - wife was in teh back and suffers from car sickness!! On the way back into town we got into serious traffic and I thought this was exactly the tsest I wanted, but Mike(?) was very impatient (thought it must be passed his tea time!!) anyway, apart from that all went well, recon I made a good deal and delighted with teh motor. |

| Briskodian | Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh Bought black Fabia VRS demo from Louis at Chathams a couple of months back. Helpful, plenty test drive opportunity and good service. Decent P/X price for Audi and car delivered on time. Hope the good work continues, and the price is right come service time. |

| Briskodian | Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh Just ordered a Fabia vRS - George was very helpful and thorough. Mike took me out for a long test drive - I think he's maybe a closet rally driver ! - Anyway I was impressed and they offered me a fair price on my 101k miles Passat. First impressions are very good. I initially made enquiries via the websites of Skoda, SEAT and Vauxhall - ony Skoda bothered to get back to me. I also visited Western VW in Gorgie - these guys had a couldn't care less attitude and didn't seem to want my business ! Last edited by PassatNoMore; 14-01-2007 at 14:17. |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh Readers may wish to follow a saga that began today. My old shape (54) Octavia 1.9 tdi pd is with Chathams with a slightly slipping clutch. Still under warranty and less than 25k miles. I've done the best part of half a million miles over the years and never worn a clutch out, so I am under no doubt that this is Skoda's problem and not mine. Got phoned at lunchtime to tell me they had been out in it and......they thought the clutch was slipping a bit. Unfortunately, when I said that would be fixed under Warranty, they suggested otherwise. I explained, at great length, that this was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, espcially in the light of the ongoing problems with VAG's dual mass flywheel as fitted to my (and quite probably your) car. To say I am livid is an understatement....c'mon guys, you can try harder than that. Updates as they occur- diagnosis tomorrow. |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh The promised update, and it seems as if it's a story with a happy ending. It took a few stern conversations that also involved Skoda UK, but full marks to Jonathan for pressing my case with the powers that be. The flywheel was confirmed to be faulty and a replacement clutch is also being fitted at Skoda's -and not my- expense. So I'm happy to say thanks to Jonathan for his efforts and I look forward to picking my car up tomorrow. |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh Update on Chatham's - Sale was very good yesterday, Derek took 15 mins to expllain the controls in the car, even when we had problem with abs light on thr dash, he took it out and booted it and cleared the fault, turned out to be the abs sensor after a tyre got changed. Look forward to dealing with Derek again in a few years time, just hope the afterservice is going to be good. David |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh I bought my fabia SDI from Derek a couple of years ago. Then my vRS (new) through Ricky, there was a bit of a delay with the delivery (almost a month), probably due to me wanting a yellow one with cruise control. Car did eventually turn up and is fantastic. My brother recently bought an octavia estate from them. Service and Parts are good, but I am beginning to find the service costs high so am using another garage for servicing and maintenance. Overall I am happy and will return for more vehicles, provided skoda bring the original fabia vRS back into production cos the new fabia looks in yellow. |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh 40000 mile service - Just thought I would share some feedback to the aftersales of Chatham's in edinburgh. Dropped my car off at the start of June for it's 40000 service and first MOT. No problem with getting a courtesy vehicle, was in the door only 30 mins when I got a phonecall to let me know what work the car needed done, full full overhaul and a couple of issues on warrenty work ie bushes and electric window switch, couple of bulbs. Quoted a cost which I thought was a bit steep but none the less agreed to the work. Was told by Grace that car would need to come back in later in the week to get the bushes done. Was told a time to collect the car and the car was just about ready when we came to collect it and it was clean as well. Car was booked in for warrenty work for the following week, car was taken in and work was complete and another courtesy car was provided and got a call to say car was ready but window switch part ordered and would have to come back in the following week. Window switch duly fitted the following week and courtey car provided again. et again got phonecall to say car was ready. Excellent customer service but pricy servicing is my only gripe but would recommend them as a friendly aftersales and seem to know their customers and their needs.

| Chatham Edinburgh - good old fashioned SERVICE :) I've just acquired an 05 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI PD Elegance - Black Magic for anyone who's interested. First Skoda and first oil burner in a long time. Was a bit concerned that it had done 61k but reading some of the posts on here, that looks like a good running in for a Skoda diesel! First few miles have been just fine. Let's hope the rest are just as good. Bought from my local dealer, Chathams in Edinburgh, with the usual package of warranty, etc. - I can't recommend them highly enough. It's still a family business unlike almost all the other dealers in Edinburgh, and it shows! Everyone was courteous throughout the dealings, never any type of pushy sales techniques. They insisted I test-drove the car before they would discuss money at all; when it worked out to be a bit more than I had hoped to pay, they left me to think it through in my own time. So unlike the 'sales executives' at the well known chain which begins with E and ends in Hallshaw! |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh I bought my Fabia VRS from Mike after a very long and fun test drive. He was happy to repair some minor bodywork damage before I picked it up, after we had agreed a price. trade in offer was very competitive. Overall, I was very impressed by this place. |

| Re: Graeme P Chatham (East) Ltd - Edinburgh Was in Chatham's yesterday to pick up a model fabia WRC, friendly service as always and even was recognised by the salesman Derek who we purchased (nearly a year ago) the car from. As always top service and friendly atmosphere.
