Got my new sump fitted here after the AA towed me up out of hours - the car was in for nearly two weeks but to be fair I brought it in the Friday before Xmas, they got the part on Xmas eve and fitted it before Hogmanay - considering they were closed for most of the time it's fair enough. Pleased with the staff, price and quality of workmanship.

Put Fabia in for a 30000 mile service and reported problems with 3 out of the 4 speakers near the windows (distorting). When I went to collect I was told that there was nothing wrong with them. I said that there definitely was. Mechanic came to have another look, but wasn't too pleased. I didn't like his or the service managers attitude. I have been told that they will replace them. They should be here in 3-4 days and then they will phone me. Other people who have used this garage have been told the same, but never got phone calls.

I rang and enquired about a car they had that i couldn't get from my local dealer. I gave them my bank details (stupidly) because i originally intended to buy the car as long as the cost of transporting it down to me wasn't to expensive. The salesman wasn't going to take the deposit until we'd sorted everything out. After a week or two, i changed my mind and decided i wasn't going to go for the car and at this point i was still awaiting a cost for transporting the car to me. I then found out the salesman had taken £650 out of my account, even though we'd agreed nothing was to be taken until everything was sorted. I rang up and spoke to the manager who was an a@*#hole. I then also spoke to Skoda UK and the twisting salesman told them a complete pack of lies which made me out to be the liar. I'm still waiting for my money back for a car i never bought and was only going to buy if everything went okay and the other costs weren't to much.

Default Wing Mirror

Also had problem with this dealer, asked them to remove and then refit door mirror cover whilst I had it re-painted as I didn't want to risk cracking the glass or casing.

Got the mirror painted and took the car in to get it re-fitted and they had gouged all of the plastic on the underside of the mirror so there are now 2 rectangular holes in it from their screwdriver. Confronted the service manager about who asked the mechanic who did the job. He denied doing it and said it was already like that, aw aye, that's why I paid you to do it, so it wouldn't get damaged. Went to customer services who contacted the dealer but the manager said it was the mechanics word against mine so he wouldn't do anything. I could get away with just replacing the small plastic underside but it isn't sold separately and the dealer wouldn't entertain replacing the mirror. He offered me 10% off my service but I'm not interested, it's the principal that counts.

So if anyone has a spare damaged drivers mirror I could take the bit from I would really appreciate it and I'd see you alright.

Now looking for another Dealership.

Bought our car from them and got it delivered on Sept 1st 2005.

Salesman (Stuart- I think his brother Daniel is the manager?) was very helpful.

He didn't get annoyed when I started talking about internet prices I had seen, and didn't dismiss them out of hand like other dealers I have spoken to. Instead we engaged in some good haggling and he eventually gave us a more than generous price for our trade-in (£1500 for a £900 car) and brought the APR on the finance down as low as he could to try and bring the car in under our monthly budget.

It was SWMBO who was actually buying the car and although it was obvious that I knew all about the car, he didn't resort to just talking to me, he made sure that she understood everything that was going on, but not in a patronising way.

The other thing I was impressed with was that because of work we couldn't get to the dealership until about 5.30, but even though they shut at 5 he stayed on until we could get there and then was quite happy to let us stay for as long as we wanted talking about the deal. No pressure to get us out so he could get home for his tea!

All in all I was very impressed with the sales side of the dealership. I have no experience of the service side and I don't think I ever will as Chatams Dunfermline has just opened up and is much closer.

I can recommend them for sales though

I have used these guys several times over the last couple of years and they always do a good job for me. Car has had full set of brake discs and pads fitted; a service and an MOT. All with a minimum of fuss and a courtesy car was provided when I needed one. Free coffee and usually get the car washed as well.

Staff are pleasant and are usually very helpful.

I am looking at a new or nearly new and will go these guys as well as the other two ro three dealerships close by to get some haggling done.

Have now bought the last three Octys from these guys and they have always been extremely helpful. Last two have been bought new and they have done very good deals to match the internet prices (unlike Chathams in Edinburgh who said any businesses operating on the internet "are cowboys").

Also on the current car needed to source it in a hurry due to last one being crushed by a tree - they came up trumps despite everyone else saying there were no L&Ks in the country. Servicing has always been fine, the current car had a problem withthe Stream head unit so they just replaced it without quibble, said they had heard of problems so no point in messing about.

First rate.

All i can say about west end garage is how fantastic they are, ken at the service desk is very professional and extremely helpfull. Stewert 1 of the owners is another very nice and extremely helpfull guy.
This is our second Skoda we have the octavia and the fabia and i think what you get is more than good value for money.
Any problems are very quickly sorted and explained to you even if your not car minded you can understand them, as its not car jargon thats used.
We will certainly go back for another car next year, and hope to do another deal.
Well done west end is all i can say

I must admit, buying my Octy vRS from West End a couple of weeks ago was completely painless, quite pleasurable in fact!

Dealt with Stewart - sound bloke.

I bought my car from them (an Octy not a vRS unfortunatly) and the sales team was excellant unlike the my fellow posters I didnt get Stuart but got Eddie instead who was also brilliant and very accomodating.

Got an excellant trade in price for my car nearly £2k as opposed to "£1k being a very generous offer" from a VW garage (my old car was a VW polo) and £1.5k from another Skoda dealer.

Had a couple problems that came to light after buying the car and they could not have been more helpful in getting it sorted and quickly.

Then as a continuing saga (touch wood it is now completly sorted!) my EML spent more time lit than off, most work was done whilst I waited and was supplied with Hot Chocolate as well!

I have also had it serviced there and was pleased with the price and service.

Whilst I have been waiting for my car to be "fixed" I have overheard Stuart(?) talking to the Skoda warranty taking up the case of the client really arguing the point and not as other garages would simply say sorry thats not covered.

The garage is is so good I get all my work done here (I live in Stirling) as opposed to the local garage (Newmarket) as West End are just so good and Newmarket are just so rubbish.

Just to be different, a big shout out to Bill the parts guy.

Very helpful, ( & like me he's into motorbikes ) always managed to obtain the bits I needed quickly and without exception a prompt phone call to me when they arrived... good man Bill!

They've been very patient with me as I've hummed and hawed over a Fabia vRS.
Stuart has been great to deal with especially with the daft questions my wife and I sometimes ask.

He's been honest about limited availability of a new vRS under the 0% finanance scheme, (more popular than Skoda anticipated ?) and is looking to pull in a few favours perhaps to get me one.

Cannot recommend them highly enough- especially Stuart. Bought a new Octavia RS TDI estate, and a base Fabia. Helpful, knowledgeable and curteous staff, good pricing and kept promises. Will definitely deal with them again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Thumbs down Re: West End Garage - Broxburn

Just back from this dealers. This is the third time I have had unsatisfactory dealings with them, will not be going a fourth time. This dealer is best summed up by the notice on the wall in the parts dept that "parts must be payed for"!
