Default Jacksons Basingstoke in administration

I have just been told that Jacksons of Basingstoke has been put in the hands of the administrators as of last Tuesday. Thier Skoda franchise hangs in the balance as they wait to see if any potential buyers are interested. Jacksons subsidery, Motorland, is also up for sale. Their employees were called to a meeting and told the news last week. Poor vehicle sales, service work and company pension has been blamed. The deadline for any interest in the business is the end of November. There is no further news available at this time.

That would be a real shame if they went under as they are really nice people and could not do enough to help when I bought my Octiva Vrs last month.

Hmm I didn't know that and I pop in from time to time...

Would be a shame to see it go I guess

Nightmare

Bought 2 Octy vRS from them and was toying with getting a Fabia from them, too. Always seem a friendly, non-pushy bunch with a good family-run feel. Can't get a car booked in for work for ages, tho, so I'm surprised to hear they're short on service work.

That is a real shame and seems to be a bit of a trend what with the Saltdean Group going pop earlier in the year taking three skoda dealerships with it along the south coast.

Does anyone know the position if you leave your car with them for work? Is it at risk from the administrators using it as a means of paying off debt?
It's a shame that we don't have something similar to California's Chapter 11 where companies get some kind of breathing space to regroup and stave off the final blow.

Jacksons is now CLOSED (with effect from 15 December 2006). Rumours are that Skoda UK intend to attract another Skoda dealership to the town, but who knows? Interestingly, when I rang to tell my lease company their comment was 'Oh no, not Skoda closing down another UK dealership...'

I noticed that this morning.

They have a sign on the outside commenting along the lines of "closing down, everything must go". Hmm. I'll buy an Octy 2 vrs for £10k

Shame to see them go though. They were quite useful to me as they're only 10 mins walk from work

Issue 942 of the AutoExpress mag has the administrators "Tender Sale" on page 67

Please see Edward Symmons for details - look under machinery sales.

Briefly there's 2 new and 5 ex demo cars plus some used and a bunch of other stuff.
