| Maybe worth waiting for Ford next year. They will use the Ford/PSA 2.2 Twin Turbo unit in the new Mondeo and it will filter across the other models. The first turbo is enough to produce maximum torque at 1500rpm and building strong from 1200rpm, the second turbo comes in at 2600rpm and gives usable power to 4500rpm. The first gen engine that's fitted to the 407/607 gives 170bhp/277lbft. The second gen engine that Ford will use will give 200bhp/300lbft. Cheers Lee

| I am the proud owner of a new Octavia Vrs TDi and would not part with it. As with all diesels, it was tight for the first 5000 miles, but it is now a rocket. When you can out run a Vrs petrol from 30 - 80 and leave a BMW 320D for dust... I think enough said. |

| I am awaiting delivery of a petrol VRS, having waited to try the diesel before I decided which to buy. Was disappointed with it, undoubtedly very very fast when on the boil, but powerband too narrow, and sixth was pretty much only good at motorway speeds, whereas the petrol will potter along happily in 40mph areas and pull cleanly. Also would have been 20 grand with options, knocking on for double what I paid for my Octy Mk1 when it was seven months old. One weird thing though, when I phoned up for insurance quote on a new diesel VRS I was told that there would be no decrease in premium from my 03 VRS Octy, which is odd as I expected it to be a bit cheaper. I then got a quote for a new petrol VRS, expecting it to be a few quid more, and was told I would get a £30 refund !!! How does that work !, not complaining tho', can put it towards all the extra petrol I'll use !

| Dad's just ordered the Golf version with this engine in it. I hope to get a go in it as soon as he's taken possession. ![]()

| Hi, first post joined this week. I drove a demo from david ian skoda morecambe about a month before i bought my furby vrs so must have been towards end of oct. Only had a couple of hundred miles on clock and was let loose in it for an hour or more which gave a chance to appraise over wide range of roads, surfaces etc. I couldn`t fault it and have read some press reviews criticising the low speed ride around town being too firm. Who are these people? how do they operate pedals and steering wheels? I drove round looking for potholes, manhole covers, cats eyes on A roads and nothing came back through the wheel or chassis into the cabin it was superb. Quieter i think than my furby and not as nervous in the suspension dept but then its a larger chassis so guess to be expected. Is it worth the money? Praps not but its one hell of a car! |

| Little preview from Czech rep. Chiptunning of this baby here in Czech rep. 173 kW at 4 150 rpm 420 N.m starting at 1 900 rpm I would say, not bad at all ;-) for 20 000 Kc = 490 GBP

| Mine RS TDI is also tuned, 211bhp, and 438NM, quite fast No negative things after the tuning, car drives same, only faster.greets Peter Here is a print from the test after tuning was done. Tuner told me these engines are hard to do, lots of things needs to be adjusted. ![]() |
