Just a further update from SCN: the SEAT only meet seems to be staying put at the Moto Services J30, BUT the general VAG owners seem to have deemed to be going to overwhelm the car park there and have now got permission to use the Park & Ride at Marsh Barton, so it looks like it's all on the move!

Last i heard, Enthusiats were staying at the Services, but SCN had organised the park & ride to stay open until 5pm, instead of its usual 1pm.

I think we'll just wander around aimlessly between and around the 2.

hi guys

i'm the guy that is organising the event that's happenening at the park & ride on the 26th

firstly, its not an SCN meet, it is open to ALL VAG and I would love it if all you skoda enthusiasts would come along!

secondly, there have been MANY rumours going around about this meet and I'd like to set everyone straight. I am hoping that there will be NO c.h.a.v.s turning up because I don't want idiots doing wheelspins and handbrake turns around the car park thinking that they are "cool". The event has been organised with the full support of the Devon & Cornwall Police, and the Park & Ride has been opened up especially for this event by the Exeter City Council. Hopefully all the people that turn up will be genuine enthusiasts and will just park up and enjoy meeting new people and looking round all the other cars that have turned up. I've had interest from about 200 people from VAG Clubs and Forums all over the Southwest - so I'm expecting maybe 100 to 150 to actually turn out on the day.

Thirdly, I had a phonecall from the local paper yesterday and he seemed particularly interested in the fact that Skoda's were included in this event as he didn't even know there was a "Skoda Enthusiast" scene in England! So this is your chance to show him that there is! And, you might even get a special mention in the article! He is coming down on the day to take some photos and have a wonder around.

I hope that loads of you guys will make it along!

and regarding the programme for the day....

It will start between 1pm and 2pm - i think most people are getting there for 2pm because this was the time of the original meet.

It is at Matford Park & Ride in Marsh Barton Industrial Estate and is easily accessible from both the M5 and the A30.....

On the day, the basic idea is for everyone to park up, have a look around all the cars that have turned up, make some new friends with the same interest as you, and have a nice chilled afternoon surrounded by VAG cars! I think most clubs attending are planning on doing photoshoots at some point and there will be many, many people (including the press) wondering around with cameras it seems.

I'm hoping that I might be able to get a charity down to collect some loose change - but they will be asked to simply "hang around" and not hound people for donations as I know how annoying this could be to people attending!

oh and I'm hoping that there will be enough genuine enthusiasts there that IF we do get any idiots turn up with intent of "showing off" then they will be simply frowned upon and will leave of their own free will! (because this is a free event and nobody is making any profit so we have no in-house security - only the support of Marsh Barton security and the police)

What does everyone think? Are you guys up for it?

sounds like a winner to me i will be there 100% it sounds like a right giggle to me, i see your point about the **** thing but i dont think that they will be interested as there with be skoda's seats etc etc and no citroens etc etc

so what is the general time us skoda 'mob' going to arrive, maybe we need to be fashionably late haha

nice that the seat lot and us lot are working together makes everything easier

a quick update!...

There will now be a collection for Cancer and Leukaemia In Children charity, CLIC. You are not EXPECTED to make a donation, but there will be a couple of members of the local division of CLIC wondering around if you do wish to drop a few coins in their bucket.

There will be a reporter from the local press wondering around taking a few photos and maybe even interviewing a couple of people. Also, I had a meeting with the events liaison officer at Devon & Cornwall Police HQ this morning, and they are 100% happy with how the event is shaping up.

Lastly, there has been interest from the local VW, Seat, Audi, Skoda, and Bentley dealerships and some of them MAY be bringing along one of their latest models for people to have a look at. I haven't had confirmation from all of them but even if only one or two of the dealerships turn up then that'll be great!

Now we just have to hope the weather holds out for us!

Ooooh, if SMC Skoda wish to bring down a new Octavia vRS for me to drive, I'd be happy.

Its still 20 horses under mine, but I'll give it a go.

Oh, and if Bentley wish to bring down a car for me to drive.....

What about Lamborghini. Thats VAG... sort of.

all of them seemed interested, but Bentley and VW were quite enthusiastic about it!! So hopefully they will both definately be there

The Dealer Principle of the Skoda dealership was in a meeting but I had a chat to one of the sales staff and he seemed to think his boss would be interested so fingers crossed. I'm gonna go down and have a chat with him tomorrow at some point

Point out to SMC my car could be used as a "What you could do with a Fabia vRS" basis. This "basis" is very sketchy though.

Looking forward to it. About time something down here was done like this with some good organisation and the involvement of private companies and local authorities to make a good day.

Surely some more Briskodians will want to come down to this now? Its becoming more of a show.
