Who is GIAC? GIAC is a software engineering company with 15 years experience tuning cars. GIAC are known for creating "factory smooth" performance software with exceptional power and reliability. Our software replaces the standard software in your car’s engine control unit. It is programmed to adjust ignition timing, fuel delivery, fuel metering, boost settings, rev limiters, and/or speed limiters to optimize performance and, in some applications, fuel economy. Performance-tuned programs are designed to dramatically increase torque and HP without sacrificing smooth drivability. Many programs are also created to accommodate numerous after market performance modifications.

Using GIAC software, Star Performance can remap your cars ECU to give excellent and "factory smooth" performance upgrades. Not only are Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda covered but also Bentley, Mini, BMW, Porsche. All remapping is done through the serial port with two major benefits over our competitors. These are the option of Flashloader Software switcher and the fact that the flash count on the ECU does not increase with each flash.
To explain further:

FEATURE 1
Flashloader™ Hand-Held is a new, pocket-sized, software switching device from GIAC.
It works like a stand-alone PC plugging directly into the serial port of the engine control unit (where it also draws its power). To switch programming, the driver uses the PC mouse to select the desired programming via its designated button.
Available GIAC software options include:
STOCK: Similar to the original factory programming
PUMP: Performance program designed for 95/98-octane fuel
RACE: Performance program designed for race fuel (102-octane)
VALET: Car in an operable but significantly detuned state.
KILL: Designed to make the car inoperable.

Switching CAN be performed while the car is on the move and once the desired programming has been selected, the driver can remove the PC and serial cable. The ECU will retain the last mode selected.
FEATURE 2
Normally when the car's ECU is flashed with a new program the internal Flash Counter counts up by one. So if the car is flashed with a performance program then reflashed back to standard then the Flash Counter will have increased by 2. Dealers can read this counter and see that the ECU program has been changed which can result in them refusing to sanction a warranty claim. GIAC software does NOT increase Flash Counter whether the Flashloader Switcher is used or if an ECU is remapped by one of our authorised dealers.
