But then I'd just post it up on here anyway like folks have done with emails from Borg Warner. Given this is a section of the forum specifically for Star Performance I would assume they would want to tell us about the product here.

Eddy, drop them a mail! Having looked closely at my -001 i think i know what they might be doing... but am sure they wouldbe happy to tell you / answer questions if you get in touch...

Anyway I thought you had given up on K04 after the Golf?

Thanks ffelan. I'm not arguing with anyone on here as I don't know the specs but I'm sure Jim will happily speak to you, I guess you just either wait for Jim to come on here or contact him direct for the answers you seek, end of story.

I have given up on the K04-001 but a K04-001 won't make 290bhp, an IHI only makes that when using the standard manifold, that's why I'm interested to know specs and prices. It's been posted that prices start at under £1k, that's pretty good for a turbo and remap that are capable of these figures. An email has been sent so we'll wait and see. I'm not trying to cause conflict, I'm genuinely interested and thought others would be, hence asking on here.

mine makes the figures and mine cost less than 1k.. (cos it was dont in my garage.....) and mine uses the 001 - thus an engine running a 001 can make 290 and more.. im not looking for a fight at all.. however it can be done.......

Yeah but you're running 2 bar not 1.2 bar. Anyway I'll just wait for Jim's reply.

yes (not all the time.. ) but 1.4/1.5 bar would be sensible and would make decent power...

agree.. but the whole k04 thing has been prickly for years.. with amd and jabba as well as APR and other tuners too... Des suffered and many have had big probs / lack of power with k04...

i can understand why you/he are sceptical.. i only did mine cos i got the turbo at the right price and had a buyer for my old one... so it cost me about 300 quid..

mine does make the power but... and its a big but.. just bolting on a -001 would not get 290-300..... so eddy you are right.. mine has a lot of fettling

My Golf was also 'fettled' and I also only went for the K04 'cos I got it cheap. At about 1.3bar I got 220bhp uncorrected and the torque was nice and flat so heatsoak wasn't robbing power. I don't have the graph but it should be on JBS's dyno PC.

A stock K04-001 will not make this power I fully agree, a new Ibiza FR with a hybrid K04 plus other mods in Greece is making 297BHP too, so a modified K04 is well capable of 300BHP, you can read all about it here: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=42850

The K04 in modified guise is coming of age now after years of trial and error. The 3" downpipe helps power alot at the top of the rev range plus the custom mapping plays a big part too.

I'm very happy with the results and I know Jim well enough to know his figures are spot on, always have been. It's time to paaaarrrr - tyyyy!

Ok can someone please clarify something for me in dare I say not too technical terms

What is the difference between the KO3 & the KO4 & are there more than one type of each

Secondly someone has offered to tweak a turbo for me, am I better buying a s/hand KO4 rather than a s/hand K03 & what sort of price is reosnable for s/hand turbos

The Octy 4x4 has KO3 as standard, any problems in changing to a KO4

Default Rs 1.8t

Well, I did not expect such a response from Rob Don car, I will be looking for 2 RS 1.8Ts for tuning. 1st car will be tuned with its Ko3s along with our mods & 2nd car with our Ko4 upgrade etc. Over the years cars all went down south to be tuned, yes even I made this trip on more than 1 occasion. But now Starperformance, will do our best to encourage customers to travel North for there tuning.
Jim.

SE had a rolling road day at Star yesterday, here's the results of my run:

The run was done using the nitrous intercooler spray and 102 octane fuel (Optimax + Millers CVL Turbo, 98 + 4) - 293BHP and 296lbft of torque, or in metric terms 297PS and 401Nm of torque! The A/F ratio was normal, it was a cold, damp day which helped too. The run was done in front of a garage full of people so it's fully legit, my car was set on the rollers just the same as all the other cars.

Star Performance will be happy to fit the same parts to your car as on my car, and tune it to these levels, just give them a call or drop an email to Jim.

Do you have a link for the results of other cars that ran on the day?

I don't know if anyone else is gonna post their results, it's up to them, most people got what they expected - some slightly more and some slightly less, the usual mixture of results - most stock cars made pretty much bang on the numbers.

I'm interested to see what losses other people had. It's a real shame your losses are so high and you're loosing all that potential.
