Default Collinite 476S Quickie

I got my first tin of the Collinite 476S this week and after washing the car this evening i plan to give her a good polish and wax tomorrow as i'm off work. Now i've read how durable the 476S is but just wondered do i still need to pop a couple of applications of it on tomorrow or will just the one be enough???

Any advice from current users???

Cheers

Dave.

One i find is fine...

But 2 seals the deal for me...

What i did was 2 coats to start off with then top up every month or so with one coat - does the job

Cheers fella....... I thought i'd go for two myself..... That's why i washed the car today so i had the full day tomorrow to give it a couple of coats of polish and a couple of wax too........ Plus i couldn't wait another day to play with my new toys......... Karcher pressure washer and a snow foam lance.

Cheers

Dave.

Yep, 2 coats really, just to ensure even coverage if nothing else!

Its a great wax, and of course thin is the key, put too much on and it can be a chore to take off.

Couldn't agree with this comment more.............less is more and treat this product like Zaino products which have the same application process............less is more!!

I usually apply with my hands rather than with a pad when it comes to wax as i find i get a thinner more even coverage so will do the same with this stuff too.

Cheers

Dave.

I think with the Colli you'll want to use a foam applicator

I hope you mean a sponge applicator pad by hand rather than by pad & machine?!...certainly wouldn't want to be spreading 476S about with my palms

As has already been said..2 coats should see you a good few months of top drawer protection/beading.

Ok....... What's the deal with the Collinite and not applying with my hands???? I've been using Swissol Onyx for ages and always applied direct from my hands / palms as they even suggest doing this..... Whats the problem with the Collinite???

Plus...... I may have a major flaw in the plan........ I don't think i have any applicator pads anymore due to me not using them for so long!!!!!

Cheers

Dave.

Yep, some of the so called 'premium' wax manufacturers recommend applying via hand but you'll use soooo much less if you use a sponge applicator and you can put down such a thin layer that removal is a breeze...purely marketing IMO as you use loads more and will obviously finish a pot off quicker..alas spending more of your hard earned.

Going back to 476S, some of the 'ingredients'/chemicals in it's make up don't lend themselves to baby soft hands...think of it as the opposite of a Nivea handcream

Cheers Chris..... I did wonder if it was a chemical thing with regard not using hands......

To be honest from my own experience i've found i actually use less wax when applying with my hands compared to when i used to use a sponge applicator pad..... I found i don't have to go back to the pot for a re-charge so to speak as often..... May just be how i do it though.

Cheers

Dave.

As others have said Dave, pop two coats on. Will last 6 months plus, easily.

I apply with a Meg's app pad and did try applying by hand but was too difficult.

As a finish, I put a coat of Victoria Concourse over the top, to add a bit more depth and some gloss to the Black Magic. Still comes up treat and I did this last Sept/Oct time.
