Default De-beiging

Well, I've had my Fabia Elegance TDi a couple of weeks now and am very happy with it and very grateful for all the modding advice I've received so far (my wallet is less happy! ).......

........ my only slight niggle is that the interior is "Mystic Beige" which is a little too beige for my liking. Anyone gone about replacing the door cards, centre console and lower dash, and centre piece with handbrake and gear lever with black items, or attempted to change the colour with paint or some other method? If so, what was the best way of doing it? I'm suspecting a breakers yard and just switching out the offending (or should that be offensive?! ) items, but I'm waiting for inspiration

Chris

Chris,

I know the feeling! I have the "yellow skyscraper" interior, and whinge about it at the slightest chance Am starting to consider ordering some fab vRS parts, particular the door cards, etc.

Seats might prove to be a bit expensive to swap... perhaps a retrim (if possible) would work out more economical?

Not too worried about the seats, tbh, especially as they are heated too - just don't like the black top to the dash and the beige bottom! Still, that's my only complaint about the car, which speaks volumes!

So who's up for a group buy on Fab vRS door cards

Chris, there have been a couple written off, may be able to source from them? IIRC full RS carpet on the Octy, from a dealer, fitted is just under £200. Fabia should be cheaper?

I'll PM you a number later of someone who may have some bits, failing that, contact Jason (devonutopia) as he was breaking a Fabia, with a dark interior.

Thanks Jon - I checked out Jason's thread and it look like someone beat me to the door cards and facia surrounds

NO they haven't Chris (but they need a good wash...)

Only the front door cards are in a decent condition, because the rears copped a bit more damage during the crash... Let me know if you're interested and I'll take some piccies sometime soon.

edited to say both rear door "cards" should be salvageable actually, it's just one handle copped a nasty scratch as the door whipped open...

Excellent news Jason Yeah pics would be good, but to be honest, as long as they're all the same colour and less beige than my current ones I'd be happy to have them How much were you looking for for them - I guess it might be easier to meet up rather than post them?!!!

Also, have you got any of the fascia, like glove box lid, trim either side of the centre console, and then the under steering wheel trim, like can chiller lid and surround? Also centre tunnel trim (with hand-brake, gear lever and various ash trays and cup holders, and side trims (you know the one with the boot and fuel cap release) and the bottom half of the pillar trim under the top attachment of the seat belt? Let me know if you need me to clarify any of those and I'll try and get some pics of the various parts

Gonna need help with what the fascia surrounds refers to.
But I'm based down in Devon which could be a problem with meeting up, BUT, a big (IF) if I can get to my car this week I'll have a go at removing them.

(but I'll need to know precisely which bits (preferably using a piccie ) you'd like.)

If I can salvage all the door cards OK (some may need drying out ) then I won't want much for them. (I don't know what they are new to base a price on... )

As for interior trim I've been ripping (not literally) out various bits of trim from all over the car. If you want them, you're welcome to them.

I'm galavanting around the Bristol / Brum / Leics / Oxford area this weekend so gimme a shout if you're local to this area.

As a date for your diary, plumb in midday Sunday at that pub in stonebridge, Brum, on the roundabout - I'll be there getting something else sorted at the time.

Great! Any chance you could take me out in your car too, and convince my wallet I need a Jabba chip?

Be glad to! - This could be an expensive weekend for you as you'll be able to see what a bit of exhaust modification can do as well. haha!
