detailing new car?

recently asked about whether it was worth detailing th new car when I get it (just over a month to wait now!)

...anyway, general opinion was "yes", but what exactly do you think would be required on a new car? I think full pc would be unnecessary

reckon there "basic" detail would be sufficient? sounds ok to me, unless I missed something

I would have a look at the state of your paint first mate, dealers valeters can bodge new paint with ease. If superior shine are local to you get them to have a look before decide on what to get. But the 'basic detail' does look the most likely option.

I am sure that a good 'Detailing' company would come and do you a quote and suggest what you should have mate...........are they close to you? Can't figure out from there website where they are based?

they are stoke based, so not just round the corner
you are right of course I should see the car first and get a quote
...I could be lucky and it might only need a good wax

Sadly you will be very very lucky if you get it like that.

The best thing to do IMO would be to get the dealer NOT to prep it at all and let your detailer do the job

Yep, getting the dealer to leave it alone would be my choice too.

My dads new car arrived from the dealers in a horrendous condition.

unfortunately although I will probably pick it up from a dealer, I don;t know which dealer it will be and am unlikely to until pretty much the last minute

this is becuse the car will be leased through my company's car scheme

If I do get a heads up on who will be delivering it I will ask them not to prep it.....but if I do this what can I expect?

prepp'ed or not by the dealer what difference does it make if I'm going to get it detailed?

Dealers normally attempt to get rid of swirls etc and normally fail to do so due to either lack of time of a poorly trained person doing it.

As you want to get it done properly from the off it will save who ever is doing it correcting a botched attempt at it

Lease car or not, it's still his car (if you know what i mean)

When i had my company car, i spent as much time cleaning/looking after it as i did my own car.

Yes agree with the above...don't let the dealer do anything with it apart from remove any transit tape.

Yeah, its a lease not a rental
so its mine for 3 years or 65k miles whichever comes first
