Hi Wozza, Detailing world is your friend. A world for detailers...

There is a large selection of buffers to choose from, without sounding derogatory Pick a Random Orbital polisher, rotary is a seperate skill and can be easy to damage paintwork, RO gives a bit of a safety net.

As for which polisher then the only advice I can give is you get what you pay for, go with one of the big brands like Porter Cable, G220 or UDM.

The halfords type cheap ones, IMO of course, will cause more problems than it solves.

Sealey tools do a good range, and I have been advised to buy that if I were to get one, variable speed and slow start are good features to have.

Im not going to bother now as ready on detailing world there is loadsa things that can go wrong and dont wana mess the paint work up. Think i will use super resin polish to remove swirls and do it by hand. They say its the best product to remove swirls by hand!

AG Super Resin Polish doesn;t have much cutting in it so not sure how much swirls it would remove, depends how bad they are. Might be ok if they are not too bad and then you wax over the top to seal the work in.

I don't use AG SRP anymore as it's sooooo dusty but that is because it's a 'filler'.........

As mentioned its the rotary polishers that are more likely to damage/burn paint. With something like a g220 you are pretty safe so long as you use your common sense and check your work regularly. If you are really worried about paint damage nip down to your local scrappers and buy a cheap panel to practice on in the long run it will save you pounds

Plus its no where near as bad as people on DW make out.

Get something like a G220 and follow the guide on DW with how to choose your pad and polish and you will be fine
