| Peoples opinions welcome Spent the morning putting my recent training into action by tinting the rear windows on the fabia. I have put on a dark smoke film to begin with which i am still undecided about, see below ![]() ![]() i think i would prefer a lighter smoke film allround or do the illegal and put a very light film on the front windows. which my help to get rid of the "van look" What do you think? Also for those with big cajunas i will post a guide once ive decided which film and finished the rest of the car. ______ john

| I'd clean the car first! Yep, def needs some lighter tints on the front. Personally I think the rear tints are too dark, but thats just me. |

| Back in the day before all this illegal mumbo jumbo, we had the windows of the Scooby tinted. We did 35% on the sides and 22% on the back and it seemed like a good balance and because the interior was black leather anyway, it didn't look limo-dark. I believe 35% is how much light can get through, so lighter on the sides than the rear window. Only shame was we couldn't tint the windscreen! Chris

| looks good, only trouble is if you do the fronts- and the law stop you and give you a ticket to remove them you're going to have wasted all of the effort of putting them on? |

| Are you going to do the back window as well? if so I think it will be very dark, can I ask why you are doing it? is it to cut out all the british sunshine or for privacy ?

| ive put limo black tints on the two back windows. ive left the rear windscreen alone though cos at night, you cant see diddly squit through the tints.

| Do the back windscreen, seriously. And you'll find it's not too bad to see out of at night - It actually helps with headlight glare. ALso, it will look mighty odd just doing two windows. I have limo tint throughout the back of mine and have no issues. No tints on the front though, as it's illegal. Wouldn't mind a light smoke which takes me up to the legal limit though. ![]()

| after a few months with them on, i think im gonna remove my tints. tbh, i did a bit of a dogs dinner job of it and they dont exactly fit the windows. if i can be bothered, might fit a light tint all the way round one day

| this is the actual legal requirements for tints on windows. Windscreen - 75% Side windows between 'A' & 'B' pillar - 70% Rear windows - no limit. no film will allow this much light through either the windscreen or the front windows as the majority of factory glass has a slight tint as standard, some darker than others so to add a film on top of that will make them illegal. dont listen to anyone who says certain tints are fine as i've had this discussion with my local traffic police liason officer who is very clued up on various car modifications and the laws involved. however, i say light smoke all the way round is all you need, looks damn good and less likely to be hassled by the police for, but if a light meter test is carried out it will fail and you will have to remove them. also be aware tints on the front invalidate your insurance as your car is deemed to be unroadworthy via legal issues. the tints on my Octavia (please see red car in my sig) were 35% tints and with the car being one of the base models didnt come with a darker tint as standard. they looked good, sometimes darker than they actually were but at the end of the day they werent legal.

| B pilliar back you can have anything. BEWARE police use certain equipment that failed a certain van owners front windows i know, he had the van light tested when tinted at some dvla test station and it passed he got a certificate and eveything the police office could do nothing but let him drive on. So its just a can of worms on front windows, ill try find out about this dvla test station place.
