| Like a prat I offered to wash, polish and wax my mates vRS as he has offered to do me a favour, and save me £30. I've been at it since 09:00 and see no end in sight, because of the hot weather drying everything I put on it immediately. I have also used 1/2 a tube of scratchX, a whole claybar and ruined loads of decent cloths. I reckon this £30 saving is going to cost me a days work ( approx £100 ) and £30 worth of products. Bah! ![]()

| Can't you wait until 6/7ish when it starts to cool (then work by floodlight? )

2 years of tree sap takes it's toll, believe me. I have no fingerprints left It doesn't help me being particularly anal about having a clean car ![]()

| no no no mate i am not questioning the use of a clay bar as i like them its more the way it came across that you had used a clay bar, as in it is spent and must be thrown away ![]()

I should have taken pictures really, but I couldn't be arsed. At least now it looks how it should Although I will be advising him to ask for at least 2 new wheels under warranty as they are corroded, and no amount of work can get rid of corrosion, and at least they now look as if they are looked after.

| i have had my clay bar for ages and have done 3 cars with it, one of them at least twice. i simply wash the clay bar with clean warm water and keep turning it over on itself and its just as usefull as it was on day one if not the same colour ![]()

| ive read on detailingworld that one bar will do one car, folding after every panel or area you do. how true this is i dont know and it might just be an excuse to get you to buy more!

| As Mr G says, it does depend on how bad the car is - if you've got a load of bonded contaminants on there, it can 'use' up the whole claybar. You'll know when it's time for a new one - it just won't pick up any new stuff any more! Never heard about washing them Bengie. I just pack away again after I've used them. Steve

| If the sun is out and you must wash a car ....just find a gazebo and put it over the car .....you even get to work in the shade as well |

| Just keep a couple of watering cans of cold water by the car and wen u start 2c the carts drying wet it again. Another tip is if u have water butts then use rain water 2 do this as it doesnt mark when it drys (or at least no where near as much) I dont no what ur using to dry the car but the best bit of kit u can get is a micro-cloth by miguires, well good! best cleaning product iv ever bought, u can wipe the car and it doesnt even need to be dry and it will dry back with no water marks!

| rain water is a lot more pure than tap water, its the chemicals and minerals in tap water that leave marks so the pure H2O of rain has no residue to leave behind ![]()
