Default Dodgy PM's? FAO Mods

Not sure if this is the right place, but got a dodgy looking PM tonight and wanted to bring it to the attention of mods - don't want to make the details public until they've had a chance to look at it, so if one of you wants to PM me, please do so

Thanks

Andy

Edited to say that after a quick google search on his email address, seems this user is a scammer on lots of other forums so may be one to make everybody aware of?

I got a dodgy looking PM in response to a For Sale advert Ive got on here.

The sender (babby) had been banned by the time I got it (Saturday am) so I'm assuming someone else had already reported him.

Email addy was usc200881@yahoo.com and shows up as a regular scammer if you google it

I had one from that user too. I was convinced it was a scam and didn't reply.

Bit late to the thread, but would it be possible to remove the ability to PM to users who have not posted? I should really have implemented that myself when I had the chance

It's defo doable as Detailing world won't let you PM until you have a few posts under your belt.

I agree, I think something like a 10 post minimum perhaps would be a sensible level?

Another forum I'm on has all posts by "new members" vetted by mods before being posted. Posters can ask to be moved from the new members group after a few proper posts.

Would help prevent the sapm advertising but involve more work on the mod side .

It's possible to set u pa promotion, so when a user has posted more than 10 times he/she will get more rights.

I just need to set the group and then all the permissions, will see if I can wangle it in next week.
